On the evening of February 26, at the National Convention Center, Hanoi, Comrade Tran Thanh Man, Politburo member, Chairman of the National Assembly attended and spoke at the 70th Anniversary of Vietnamese Doctors' Day with the theme "Epic of the White-Blooded Soldiers" co-organized by the Central Propaganda and Education Commission and the Ministry of Health.
Attending the ceremony were comrades: Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission and Party Central Committee members: Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan; Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long; Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan and representatives of many ministries, departments and branches.
Speaking at the ceremony, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed his joy with the leaders of the Party, State, Vietnam Fatherland Front and delegates attending the 70th anniversary of Uncle Ho's letter to the health sector - Vietnam Doctors' Day (February 27, 1955 - February 27, 2025), with the theme "Epic of the white-shirted soldier".
On behalf of the leaders of the Party, State, and Vietnam Fatherland Front, respectfully sending to doctors and medical staff our warmest regards, warmest greetings, and best wishes, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man stated: Over the past 70 years, generations of doctors and the entire health sector have strived to grow and mature in all aspects.
Vietnam has built a widespread grassroots healthcare network; strongly developed specialized medical facilities with high technology; many Vietnamese medical achievements have made their mark on the world medical map, highly appreciated by international friends and colleagues.
The National Assembly Chairman especially emphasized: During the Covid-19 pandemic, natural disasters and fires, we have witnessed noble acts of kindness, forgetting to sleep at night, forgetting to eat during the day, and devoting all their efforts to the work of the team of doctors, cadres and medical staff. Many doctors and medical staff have never returned. They truly not only have kind hearts and benevolent hearts, but also have strong willpower, extraordinary endurance and resilience, which are very admirable.
Affirming that our Party and State always identify protecting, caring for and improving people's health as one of the important and top priority tasks; which has been and is being fully and promptly institutionalized, promoting the strong development of the health sector in the new period; the National Assembly Chairman suggested: The health sector needs to continue to focus on implementing well the Party's guidelines and resolutions, the State's legal policies on protecting, caring for and improving people's health, especially the 12 key contents and tasks that General Secretary To Lam requested in his speech on the morning of February 24, 2025 when working with the Ministry of Health; it is imperative to build a scientific, national and mass Vietnamese health system; ensure that all people have access to the closest health services with the best quality.
According to National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man: The team of Vietnamese doctors, no matter where they are or what position they work in, always follow the instructions of beloved President Ho Chi Minh.
On this occasion, the National Assembly Chairman requested that all levels and sectors continue to pay practical attention to taking good care of the material and spiritual life, ensuring a safe and favorable working environment for doctors, medical staff and employees. "Every citizen should actively participate in the sports movement, exercise, and follow the shining example of beloved Uncle Ho: exercise to protect the Fatherland, exercise to build the country", Comrade Tran Thanh Man emphasized.
The National Assembly Chairman expressed his belief that the team of doctors, cadres and employees in the health sector will continue to unite, work creatively, and achieve more achievements; always worthy of the title "Doctors are like kind mothers", creating the "Epic of the white-shirted soldiers" that the people always expect and look forward to.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan emphasized: On February 27, 1955, amidst the busy work of the Party and the Country, President Ho Chi Minh still had deep affection for the young health sector at that time. He sent a letter to doctors, in which he advised the country's medical team to uphold the spirit of solidarity, creating the strength of will and intelligence to overcome difficulties and hardships together with the whole country to win the resistance war to defend the country.
The person who inspires humanity, humanism, and kindness in the Vietnamese medical team must know how to respect medical ethics, in the true sense of "A good doctor must be like a mother"; He also expects the intelligence and enthusiasm of the country's medical staff to join hands to build and develop a medicine based on scientific, national, and popular principles, imbued with national identity, integrated with the civilization and modernity of world medicine.
Uncle Ho's teachings are a source of political ideology, rich in humanity, giving wings to the Vietnamese Health Sector to fly high and far, contributing to the common achievements of the nation over the past 70 years, a long journey of intelligence and strength, dedication and sacrifice, hardships and determination, blood and tears, but above all, it is a journey of aspirations to save people, to preserve the right to live for our compatriots.
According to the Minister of Health: Over the past 70 years, the health sector has made constant efforts to build a "scientific, national and mass" health sector as instructed by President Ho Chi Minh. His trust and confidence have helped the Vietnamese health sector mature to join the nation in realizing its aspirations in the new era.
The Minister of Health said: In the next phase, the difficulties and challenges facing the health sector are still very great, the expectations and wishes of the Party and the people for the health sector are increasingly high, the health sector promises to the leaders of the Party, the State, and all the people to promote the glorious tradition of the sector, continue to innovate and develop comprehensively.
Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan also pledged to continue to focus on promoting training, scientific research; institutional building; strengthening management capacity and improving professional quality, training medical ethics; improving grassroots health capacity, continuing to unite to ensure the protection, care and improvement of people's health better and better.
