On the morning of June 2, at the headquarters of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) in the province (Thanh Long Pagoda, Ky Ba Ward, Thai Binh City), the Provincial VBS Executive Committee held a grand ceremony to celebrate Buddha's birthday, Buddhist calendar 2567 - solar calendar 2023. Attending the ceremony were comrades: Nguyen Tien Thanh, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Nguyen Khac Than, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; comrades of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee; leaders of the Provincial People's Council, Provincial People's Committee, and Provincial Fatherland Front Committee.

At the ceremony, Most Venerable Thich Thanh Hoa, member of the Central Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Head of the Provincial Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, read the Buddha's birthday message of Buddhist calendar 2567 from the Supreme Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha. The message acknowledged the merits of all levels of the Sangha, Vietnamese Buddhists at home and abroad who have done a good job of serving and hoped that all would continue to unite and join hands to contribute to serving humanity, improving life and religion. On this year's Buddha's birthday, Buddhists also expressed their respect to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Bodhisattva Thich Quang Duc's self-immolation (1963-2023). At the same time, they called on monks, nuns, Buddhists, and people of all walks of life to make efforts to do good deeds and actively build the country.

On this occasion, the Provincial Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha donated 400 million VND to support the construction of great solidarity houses in the province.

Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Lai Van Hoan, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, sent his best wishes to the monks, nuns, and all Buddhists in the province. He acknowledged and highly appreciated the contributions of dignitaries, monks, nuns, and Buddhists to the socio-economic development of the province in the past time; at the same time, he requested that in the coming time, the members of the Executive Committee of the Buddhist Sangha and monks and nuns in the province actively propagate and mobilize Buddhists to comply with the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws on religious beliefs; actively participate in patriotic emulation movements in the locality, live a "good life, good religion". Pay attention to building a strong provincial Buddhist Sangha, promoting goodness, eliminating superstition, protecting good customs and traditions, preserving and promoting national cultural identity. Continue to pay attention to building and strengthening the team of compassionate and wise monks and nuns who strictly follow the precepts and are dignified and virtuous; closely combine the implementation of the law with respect and strict implementation of the State's laws in Buddhist activities, especially the provisions of the law on land and construction related to beliefs and religions. The Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of the province, districts and cities proactively coordinate with functional agencies to actively overcome limitations and shortcomings, especially in resolving complicated conflicts occurring at places of worship, monks and nuns residing without sufficient procedures for religious activities at pagodas in the province, bringing the Buddhist activities of the church at all levels into order, ensuring the provisions of the law and the church.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also believes that with the wisdom and solidarity of monks and nuns in the province, with the direction of practicing religion closely, accompanying the nation and promoting the tradition of Vietnamese Buddhism, the Provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha will always be steadfast and implement well the motto "Dharma - Nation - Socialism", contributing to making Thai Binh province increasingly developed, civilized and modern.
