On August 7, at Kim Thanh International Road Border Gate No. 2, the Lao Cai Provincial Economic Zone Management Board (Vietnam) and the Border Gate Management Board - People's Government of Hekou District, Yunnan Province (China) held the first meeting in 2024.

At the meeting, the two sides informed about the implementation of the Minutes of the Second Meeting in 2023 and the situation of border gate operations between the two sides from January to June 2024.

At the meeting, the two sides discussed measures to promote bilateral trade, improve the business environment at border gates; strengthen coordination and conduct in accordance with international relations to promptly resolve trade disputes between businesses of the two sides, maintain the form of rotating talks...

Based on the evaluation of the results achieved, the two sides agreed on a number of contents: Continue to coordinate the pilot implementation of the two-way transport method (import with goods, export with goods) until December 31, 2024. Proceed to report to superiors to request permission to handle procedures for drivers of goods transporting vehicles using valid passports and visas to enter and exit through Kim Thanh International Road Border Gate No. II, creating favorable conditions for international trade enterprises, building a healthy business environment at the border gate.

Mr. Zhang Liang, Deputy Head of the Hekou County People's Government, Director of the Bureau of System Innovation - Honghe Sub-region Free Trade Pilot Zone Management Board (Hekou Border Cooperation Zone) spoke at the meeting.

The two sides focused on investing in infrastructure, actively reporting to superiors to promote the official opening of the Muong Khuong (Lao Cai, Vietnam) - Kieu Dau (Yunnan, China) border gate pair and the road bridge crossing the Red River Bat Xat - Ba Sai belonging to the Lao Cai (Vietnam) - Ha Khau (China) international road border gate pair to serve people, vehicles entering and exiting the country and goods and items imported and exported. Coordinate with relevant agencies to continue implementing the Agreement between the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Government of the People's Republic of China on the joint construction of a road bridge across the Red River in the border area of ​​Bat Xat, Lao Cai, Vietnam - Ba Sai, Yunnan, China; promote investment in infrastructure construction at each side's border gates, ensuring the operation of the border gates when the common border bridge is completed.

Representatives of Lao Cai Provincial Economic Zone Management Board approved the plan to upgrade the bridge surface of Ho Kieu 2 bridge.

The two sides agreed to continue promoting the development of cross-border e-commerce, promoting the mechanism for customs clearance of e-commerce goods across the border and building customs clearance infrastructure at the Kim Thanh Border Gate (Vietnam) - Bac Son Border Gate (China), coordinating the implementation of survey programs, connecting e-commerce enterprises, postal and delivery enterprises on both sides to reduce logistics costs and delivery time. Implement the Cooperation Agreement between the People's Committee of Lao Cai province, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the People's Government of Hong Ha district, the People's Republic of China for the period 2024 - 2028, focusing on the content of "Completing synchronous infrastructure in the border gate area, jointly studying and promoting the construction of smart border gates"...
