Specifically, Master - Doctor Ho Manh Tuong, Head of the My Duc Reproductive Support Unit and Associate Professor - Doctor Vuong Thi Ngoc Lan, Head of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City are two representatives of Vietnam participating in compiling a chapter of "Textbook of Assisted Reproductive Techniques Sixth Edition". This is a prestigious book in the world's reproductive support industry, with a history of more than 20 years since its first publication in 1999. This is a reference document in the industry published by a famous American science and technology publishing group.
The book is expected to be published in early 2024. The 6th edition is a 2-volume set, totaling over 900 pages covering most of the important issues and techniques in assisted reproduction.
Two Vietnamese doctors were invited to participate in compiling a chapter of the book with the topic: "Use of in vitro maturation of oocytes in a clinical setting - What is its Role in ART?". This chapter presents in detail the development history, theoretical basis, implementation protocol and results of the technique of in vitro maturation of oocytes - IVM (In Vitro Maturation). IVM is considered a new, outstanding innovation and plays an important role in the future of the IVF industry.

Compared with IVF, IVM has many advantages. First, IVM does not stimulate the ovaries, thereby eliminating the risk of ovarian hyperstimulation in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCO) or PCOS. Second, not using hormone drugs reduces the cost of assisted reproductive treatment by more than 40%. Third, IVM is convenient for patients because it does not require frequent ultrasounds and blood tests, which reduces psychological stress and saves treatment and travel costs for patients.
The fact that two Vietnamese authors were invited to write a book chapter about a technique considered the future of the world's assisted reproductive technology is a source of pride for the Vietnamese assisted reproductive technology industry. This also demonstrates the expertise and academic reputation of the Vietnamese assisted reproductive technology industry in the world.
