On June 1, Mr. Nguyen Van Tham, Chairman of Phu My Town People's Committee, said that the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province has approved the town's master plan. Accordingly, the plan covers a total area of over 33,300 hectares. The short-term planning period is until 2030 and the long-term period is until 2045.

The goal of the planning is to concretize the strategic orientations of the provincial planning and develop Phu My into an important economic center of the province and the region. Thus, by 2025, Phu My Town will have 8 wards. The suburban area will now have 2 administrative units: Song Xoai Commune and Chau Pha Commune.
According to the planning project, Phu My urban area plays the role of a port - industrial - logistics service urban area, an important gateway in economic exchange of the southern key economic region, Southeast Asia and internationally; is one of the important economic centers of the province and the southern key economic region.
Phu My will develop a multi-center model with diverse functions to create balanced development between urban natural landscape, connecting river systems and mountains and forests.
Phu My is oriented to develop with 7 functional zones to manage urban development, invest in construction and complete the framework infrastructure. In which, the main economic zone of Phu My urban area will focus on port production - industry - logistics services, port logistics, with an area of over 11,000 hectares, including wards and communes: My Xuan, Phu My, Tan Phuoc, Phuoc Hoa, Tan Hoa and Tan Hai.
