At the end of March 2025, the Vietnam Maritime Administration (Ministry of Construction) issued Decision No. 254/QD-CHHDTVN on the announcement of the opening of wharf No. 3 - Vung Ang port. Accordingly, wharf No. 3 (belonging to Lao - Viet International Port Joint Stock Company) with a capacity to receive ships of up to 45,000 DWT put into operation is expected to be a driving force contributing to increasing budget revenue through Vung Ang port.

Mr. Pham Quoc Luong - Deputy Director of Lao - Viet International Port Joint Stock Company said: "It is expected that in April 2025, the company will inaugurate and officially put into use wharf No. 3. The official operation of wharf No. 3 will increase the cargo handling capacity of the unit, increasing the scale from 2 to 3 wharfs with a total cargo handling capacity of nearly 7 million tons. In the first 3 months of the year, the company has handled more than 1 million tons of cargo, reaching 17.5% of the 2025 plan".
At this time, customs clearance activities through Vung Ang - Son Duong port are very active with a variety of import and export goods (such as: wood chips, construction stones, machinery and equipment, coal, etc.) and transit goods from Laos to other countries (ore, potash, etc.). In order to avoid interruptions in import and export activities, Vung Ang port customs (new name after restructuring the apparatus - PV) has established a Support Team to resolve problems in the process of performing tasks according to the new organizational model. The unit's hotline system is also always open to promptly receive information.

After restructuring the organization, Vung Ang Port Customs has 32 officers and civil servants; including 1 team leader and 3 deputy team leaders. To ensure smooth operations, Vung Ang Port Customs has increased the number of officers and civil servants on duty at all stages of customs procedures. The unit has also increased patrols and controls to prevent smuggling and illegal transportation of goods across the border.
Mr. Le Dung - Captain of Vung Ang Port Customs said: “In parallel with the work of reorganizing the apparatus, the unit has synchronously deployed solutions to strive to increase budget revenue. In particular, focusing on reviewing and evaluating traditional revenue sources, proactively coordinating with relevant agencies to grasp the implementation situation of new projects in the area; thereby forecasting new revenue sources to prepare the State budget revenue estimate for 2025. In the coming time, we will work with large budget-paying enterprises to grasp difficulties and obstacles in order to deploy solutions to support enterprises”.

According to statistics, since the beginning of the year, Vung Ang Port Customs has attracted 52 enterprises to open more than 1,000 customs declarations with a total import-export turnover of 842.4 million USD. Thereby, Vung Ang Port Customs collected import-export tax of more than 1,659 billion VND, reaching 19.2% of the assigned target (the assigned target was 8,631 billion VND), down 35% compared to the same period in 2024.
“To complete the assigned target in 2025, the unit must collect an average of more than 700 billion VND in budget revenue each month. After 3 months, the collection progress is currently slow due to many reasons. The main reason is the impact of the global economic conflict, which has greatly affected the activities of import-export enterprises. The task in the coming time will be extremely heavy, Vung Ang Port Customs will continue to drastically and synchronously implement solutions to increase budget revenue to complete the assigned task” - Captain of Vung Ang Port Customs Le Dung said.

Along with solutions to support businesses in customs clearance, Vung Ang Port Customs will strengthen post-clearance inspection... for goods with high tax rates, large turnover, and goods in the tax-free list.
Along with professional solutions, Vung Ang Port Customs will also arrange competent, professionally proficient and ethical officers and civil servants to receive and handle work; support businesses to boost import and export to increase budget revenue in the coming time.
