Primary school admissions in Ho Chi Minh City: Procedures parents need to know

On April 1, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training issued instructions on reviewing student data to prepare for the upcoming primary school enrollment.

Accordingly, the review of student data to prepare for the enrollment of preschool, primary and secondary schools will be carried out on the city's enrollment website https://tuyensinhdaucap.hcm.edu.vn from April 4 to 13.

Specifically, the review includes children studying in kindergartens at educational institutions; students studying in grade 5 at primary schools; children who have not yet attended kindergarten and are of admission age to grade 1 in districts, towns, and Thu Duc City.

5-step process for students in kindergarten and grade 5

  1. Step 1 : Preschool and primary schools must ensure that all students eligible for admission have identification codes and verify identification data with the national population database. In cases where students do not have identification codes for special reasons (disadvantaged children, foreign children, etc.), the Department of Education and Training is responsible for reviewing, compiling the list, attaching evidence and submitting it to the Department of Education and Training for consideration and guidance.
  2. Step 2 : After fully updating the data of students eligible for admission, the school synchronizes the data from the industry database to the primary school admission database. At the same time, notify the login account to parents to check the information on the city's primary school admission page.
  3. Step 3 : Parents access the city's primary school admissions page at https://tuyensinhdaucap.hcm.edu.vn to verify the correct information, account, and login password provided by the school. In case of information adjustment, parents enter the requested adjustment content, attach evidence to the system (evidence includes: image of student's birth certificate; image of parent's VNEID, residential information section).
  4. Step 4 : The school verifies the content of the parent's request for adjustment and proceeds to adjust the information. After the school adjusts, parents access the city's primary school admissions page to check and confirm the correct information.
  5. Step 5 : After completing the data review, the school confirms the completion of the data review and transfers the final year student data files to the higher level.

2-step process for grade 1 with 6-year-olds who have not attended preschool

For data on 6-year-old children who have not attended preschool, the screening process consists of 2 steps carried out by the People's Committee of the commune, ward, or town, and the police of the commune, ward, or town.

  1. Step 1 : The People's Committee of the commune, ward, or town coordinates with the police of the commune, ward, or town to collect and review information of 6-year-old children who have not attended preschool and are currently residing in the area, especially information on "current residence" in the parent's VNEID.
  2. Step 2: The People's Committee of the commune, ward, or town updates the list of 6-year-old children who have not yet attended preschool on the primary school enrollment database system, notifies parents to check and confirm information on the city's primary school enrollment page at https://tuyensinhdaucap.hcm.edu.vn.

No change requests will be processed after the specified time.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, if parents do not review data or confirm information within the prescribed time, the primary school admission system will automatically consider that parents have approved all information available on the city's primary school admission page and use it as an official basis in the admission process.

Any requests for changes made after the prescribed review period will not be resolved, except in special cases with legitimate reasons, which are reviewed, approved and reported to the Department of Education and Training by the district, county, and Thu Duc City Admissions Steering Committee.
