Quang Binh welcomes the first international flight from Taipei (Taiwan, China)

(Quang Binh Portal) - On the evening of March 31, 2025, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with Dong Hoi Airport and VietJet Air Joint Stock Company (Vietjet Air) to welcome the first international flight from Taipei (Taiwan, China) to Quang Binh.

Comrade Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy, Director of the Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism welcomed, presented flowers and souvenirs to the delegation.

Flight VJ7173 took off from Taipei International Airport at 4:40 p.m. and landed at Dong Hoi Airport at 7:40 p.m. (local time) with 38 passengers. At Dong Hoi Airport, Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, personally welcomed and presented flowers to the group of passengers and crew. On the same day, flight VJ7172 on the route VDH - TPE with 90 passengers also departed from Dong Hoi Airport at 12:40 p.m. and arrived at Taipei International Airport at 3:40 p.m.

The exploitation of the Dong Hoi - Taipei international route is of great significance in expanding Quang Binh's aviation connectivity, especially after Dong Hoi Airport is one of three domestic airports allowing foreigners to enter and exit the country with electronic visas (E-Visa) according to Resolution No. 127/NQ-CP of the Government issued on August 14, 2023 on the application of electronic visas for citizens of countries and territories; international border gates allow foreigners to enter and exit the country with electronic visas.

Previously, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam allowed VietJet Air to operate the Dong Hoi - Taipei - Dong Hoi international route. According to the plan, from March 31 to October 13, 2025, this route will be operated with a total of 26 flights (equivalent to 13 round trips), using A320/A321 aircraft with two flight codes VJ7172 (Dong Hoi - Taipei) and VJ7173 (Taipei - Dong Hoi). According to information from VietJet Air, the average number of passengers per flight is about 80.

The Dong Hoi - Taipei flight is the first international charter flight operated at Dong Hoi Airport and the first international flight to be reopened after the Dong Hoi - Chiang Mai (Thailand) route.

The opening of this flight route not only creates favorable conditions for Taiwanese tourists to come to Quang Binh but is also a great opportunity to promote local tourism to the international market, while promoting plans to expand more international flights in the future.

It is expected that from April 24, 2025, the Dong Hoi - Hanoi flight route will also be re-operated, contributing to enhancing traffic, tourism and trade connections for Quang Binh.
