The exhibition "From Khai Dinh Museum to Hue Royal Antiquities Museum" was organized by the Hue Monuments Conservation Center in collaboration with the National Museum of History at Long An Palace to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the museum's establishment.
In August 1923, King Khai Dinh issued an edict to establish a museum called Musée Khai Dinh with the “mission of collecting and preserving representative works of art that fully reflect the economic, social, artistic and ritual life of Dai Nam”. The King allowed Long An Palace to be used as the main exhibition space of the museum.
Over the vicissitudes of history, the museum has changed its name many times: Ancient Museum, Hue Museum, Hue Antiquities Museum; Hue Royal Fine Arts Museum... From 2007 to present, the museum has been called Hue Royal Antiquities Museum, under the Hue Monuments Conservation Center.
