With a comprehensive partnership with AWS, the Malaysian startup operates drone solutions for the telecommunications, agriculture, surveillance, logistics, and energy industries across 45 countries. DRONOS is a comprehensive drone-as-a-service platform that enables drone users to engage, analyze, and understand drone data to optimize operations, improve efficiency, and conduct aerial inspections to keep workers on the ground safe.

AWS now offers powerful data analytics services

Specifically, Aerodyne created a data profile on AWS using Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) to store and turn drone data—including imagery, satellite, agricultural, and weather data—into actionable insights. Using Amazon SageMaker, a fully managed service for building, training, and deploying machine learning (ML) models, the company automated analytics across cell towers and farm fields.

Aerodyne is also helping the agriculture industry address global food security challenges through drone precision farming. Together with AWS, the startup has developed solutions such as the DRONOS-powered Agrimor platform, which enables farmers and agricultural service providers to use drones for seeding, spraying, crop analysis, and agricultural mapping – increasing crop yields by up to 67%.

“Partnering with AWS has dramatically transformed our ability to solve complex challenges across multiple industries, expand to more countries, and deepen our footprint in the global drone community,” said Kamarul A. Muhamed, founder and CEO at Aerodyne. “Our exponential growth has only been possible by scaling workloads on the AWS platform to meet growing user demand.”

In the future, Aerodyne also plans to test AWS's generative AI capabilities to build a large language model that will help companies better plan drone flights and visualize nearly 1 petabyte of drone data.

“Startups around the world are relying on AWS to help them transform into data-driven companies quickly and cost-effectively. Drone services are a great example of how the latest cloud technology and generative AI can revolutionize industries,” said Conor McNamara, Vice President, AWS ASEAN. “Aerodyne, a Malaysian-based startup, is rapidly growing globally with AWS, providing innovative drone services to customers around the world and helping them turn insights from geospatial data into meaningful outcomes. Aerodyne’s DRONOS platform is also contributing to solving complex problems like food security through the transformative power of AI.”
