DNVN - According to AWS, up to 90% of employers want to employ talent with AI (artificial intelligence) skills, but up to 72% of these employers cannot find people with those skills in the market.
Cloud computing accelerates product development
Sharing at the recent AWS Cloud Day Vietnam, Mr. Duong Ngoc Toan, Head of Cloud Department at FinX and HDBank said: HDBank aims to utilize cloud computing technology to improve products and services, serving customers better and more promptly.
“At HDBank, we consider cloud computing not only as a technology but also as an effective tool to accelerate innovation programs and improve workflows and internal processes. This allows us to develop more reliable, better and faster products and services for customers. With the support of AWS, HDBank can accelerate the product development process. For example, the time required to develop a product is now about 40 - 60% faster than before,” Mr. Toan emphasized.
In terms of system scalability, banks providing financial services often face peak seasons, such as the Lunar New Year holiday and other holidays. Therefore, the bank's system needs to be fast, flexible and scalable to meet these needs.
The next advantage is system reliability. With technologies and support from AWS, HDBank has developed highly reliable systems, allowing seamless and secure financial transactions.
“To meet these business needs, we have to address a number of challenges. The first challenge is human resources. It is essential to ensure that we have enough talent to accelerate the development of our financial products and services. However, it is difficult to find such talent in the market because the required skills are very specific to the banking industry and are often not available. We may have to wait 2-3 months for new hires to be recruited and effective, making recruitment a significant challenge for the product development and market launch process,” shared a representative of HDBank, revealing that this is the reason for cooperating with AWS and participating in the cloud training program.
Through the collaboration with AWS in the First Cloud Journey, HDBank realized that cloud engineers who completed their training not only acquired solid technical skills but also developed an open mindset. This open mindset significantly accelerated the transformation and innovation journey at HDBank.
Lack of human resources with AI and cloud computing skills
Also at AWS Cloud Day Vietnam, Mr. Emmanuel Pillai, Director of Training and Certification, AWS ASEAN shared: “We are strongly transforming the way we live, work, and entertain. Recently, IDC has recorded that 70% of organizations in the Asia-Pacific region have researched or committed to investing in generative AI technology. Vietnam is also following that path, and AWS is supporting our customers here. In many different industries, generative AI is playing an extremely important role. We want to enhance customer experience, improve employee performance, and at the same time create products that support generative AI.”
However, according to Emmanuel Pillai, AWS research shows that while 90% of employers want to hire talent with AI skills, 72% of these employers cannot find people with those skills in the market. That shows that there is a huge gap in AI skills training.
AWS has also invested hundreds of millions of US dollars globally (including Vietnam) to provide free cloud computing skills, AI skills and training courses at low cost.
AWS also pledged to train more than 29 million people worldwide in cloud skills, a goal by 2025. But to date, AWS has trained 31 million workers with AI skills (3 years ahead of the company's target), and also hopes to train 2 million people with free access to generative AI and cloud skills within the next 2 years.
Specifically in Vietnam, AWS has trained over 50,000 workers with cloud skills. AWS has a three-pronged approach: focusing on training human resources with skills in generative AI, cloud, and cloud-based technology.
AWS is committed to providing free or low-cost cloud skills training. AWS’s first training approach is to train existing workers in generative AI skills, offering online training and platforms. AWS has more than 600 online training modules, allowing anyone with internet access to access them.
“We also have paid subscription services for our customers. At the same time, we want to build a diverse portfolio with many Restart programs, where we also provide training programs, AI programs that create jobs for people who are unemployed and within 6 months, helping them understand and work related to cloud computing. AWS wants to build a future workforce with programs built for university students and younger people. Another approach is: we have customized programs to ensure that we meet the specific needs of the Vietnamese market, that is why we are here,” Mr. Emmanuel Pillai emphasized.
A concrete example is the AWS Study Group, a community-based program that can support students and professionals to access cloud training, networking, and other cloud-related job opportunities.
