The campaign has the message "Grapefruit or lemon, healthy and green is beautiful" providing knowledge and calling on women to proactively prevent breast cancer and proactively screen early. During the campaign, patient forums with the theme "Modern beautiful women, not afraid of difficulties" were held directly in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, providing authentic medical information as well as updating the latest advances in breast cancer treatment. The forum honors the confident beauty and strong will of modern women when facing difficulties in the treatment journey.
In addition, with the aim of raising awareness of one of the most common diseases among women in Vietnam, the "Doctor Advice" program series is held at locations such as universities and industrial parks to provide authentic information about breast cancer to women. Here, specialists will directly guide women on how to self-examine their breasts, detect the disease early, preventative measures and answer questions related to breast cancer.
Professor, Dr. Tran Van Thuan
At the launching ceremony, Professor, Dr. Tran Van Thuan, Deputy Minister of Health, shared that women should be screened for breast cancer right after the age of 40. Women with a family history of breast cancer in their mother or sister are also at higher risk. It is necessary to know how to prevent risks and maintain a reasonable weight, because being overweight or obese is one of the risk factors for breast cancer. It is necessary to know how to self-examine your breasts every month and see an oncologist or a qualified medical facility when you notice abnormalities (for example, a hardened breast).
Currently, 76% of breast cancer patients are detected early. Many years ago, about 70 - 80% of breast cancer patients were detected at a late stage.
