Phu Yen is a famous destination in the Central region with many beautiful landscapes and delicious food at low cost.

Phu Yen is located in the South Central Coast, between Binh Dinh and Khanh Hoa provinces, with Tuy Hoa City as its capital. Phu Yen's airport is Tuy Hoa, about 10 km from the city center. This is a destination chosen by many tourists in recent years thanks to the scenic Ghenh Da Dia, the filming location of the movie "I see yellow flowers on green grass". The 48-hour experience in Phu Yen below is suggested by Mr. Nguyen Duy, a local tour guide, and a group of friends of Mr. Minh Chien, Hanoi, who have just returned from Phu Yen.

Day 1

Morning

Breakfast in Tuy Hoa city with local specialties such as chive noodle soup, seafood noodle soup, hot rice cake, hot rice vermicelli, rice vermicelli with grilled spring rolls, banh can, and banh bot loc. Breakfast dishes in Phu Yen are quite cheap and popular in many locations in the city center. The price of each dish ranges from 20,000 VND to 40,000 VND.

After breakfast, depart for Cu Lao Mai Nha. This is a small island located in Tuy An district, nearly 25 km north of Tuy Hoa city, a famous destination for young people recently. According to Mr. Duy, the most convenient way to travel is to depart from An Hai wharf, Phuoc Dong village.

Mai Nha Islet has a wild beauty, you can go for a day trip or camp overnight. Because there is no electricity or wifi on the island, if you stay overnight you need to prepare all the equipment. You can enjoy lunch on the island.

On the island, there are rocky beaches, cliffs, and natural caves, suitable for taking photos and fishing. There are also small natural lakes with clear water. In the natural indentations and cracks on the surface of the rocks after the tide recedes, water accumulates to form swimming pools. For tourists who like to exercise, they can trek to the highest rocky peak in Cu Lao Mai Nha, with a wide view. Catching snails and fishing with the locals is also an experience.

Before returning to the city, go about 5 km further north to visit Ong Cop wooden bridge. This is the longest wooden bridge in Vietnam. The bridge is located right on National Highway 1A and is about 25 years old, 800 m long and 2.3 m wide at its widest point.

Evening

Returning to Tuy Hoa, visit Nghinh Phong tower square. The tower is located at the intersection of Nguyen Huu Tho - Doc Lap streets, simulating the image of Da Dia rapids. This has been a famous check-in location for all tourists coming to Phu Yen for more than two years now.

The square is spacious and airy but has no trees so it is quite hot. "It is best to come here before 8am or after 4pm," said Mr. Chien.

Dai Lanh Lighthouse is located in Dong Hoa district, about 30 km southeast of Tuy Hoa city center. To get there, visitors walk more than 1 km of trail and climb about 100 more steps. There is a motorbike taxi service.

"To see the sunrise, you should be here no later than 5am, and you must time your departure from Tuy Hoa to catch the impressive sunrise moment because the sun rises quite quickly," said Mr. Chien.

After the sunrise, stay at the lighthouse area to take photos and rest, then experience Mon beach at the foot of Mui Dien. This is one of the beautiful beaches. Besides, you should also experience the coastal road of Mui Dien - Vung Ro bay, one of the most beautiful coastal roads in Vietnam.

Have breakfast in Dai Lanh town at the foot of Ca Pass, with some dishes such as porridge, seafood instant noodles. Squid hotpot is also a delicious dish here, if you stay until noon.

Noon and afternoon

Stop by O Loan lagoon to enjoy seafood from floating restaurants on the lagoon with the famous blood cockles. There are many restaurants here, one of which is recommended by tourists is Tuan. This place also has mats and hammocks for visitors to rest.

After lunch, you should go to Ghenh Da Dia. This is a must-see destination in Phu Yen, ranked as a special national monument. Ghenh Da Dia is a gift from nature, 50 m wide, stretching over 2,000 m, with a crescent-shaped white sand beach about 3 km long. The rocks here are erected in columns that are even and close together. The stone columns have a hexagonal or circular cross-section.

Along this route, you should combine visiting Hon Yen, Mang Lang church, and Bai Xep - where the movie Yellow Flowers on Green Grass was filmed.

After visiting a series of the above locations, return to the city and visit Nhan Tower, a Cham tower that is almost intact on the mountain. From the tower, you can see the whole city. "Hot rice cakes at the foot of Nhan Tower, swimming and watching the sunset on the public beach right at the foot of Nhan Tower are must-try experiences," Mr. Chien suggested.

Huy Tung Coffee Shop is located against Nhan Mountain, on Tan Da Street, one of the oldest shops in Tuy Hoa, with a green and airy space, and is also a recommended spot.

"The shop is not a hot check-in spot for young people, mainly middle-aged customers like me, but the drinks are delicious and suitable for those who like pure coffee," said Mr. Chien.

Evening

Dinner at the Hon Ho Restaurant, with oyster dishes priced at just a few tens of thousands, specially prepared, with 9 different flavors. "This is a restaurant recommended by a local and suits the taste of a Northerner like me," said Mr. Chien.

If you don’t like oysters, you can eat Phu Yen chicken rice at restaurants such as Tuyet Nhung, Thien Huong, and Hien, which have long been famous. In addition, you can experience a street tour with snacks that are enough to fill your stomach and affordable, at about 100,000 VND per person.
