In 2020, the Kim Tan ward inter-school cluster, Lao Cai city was inaugurated, with a complex of large and modern architectural works, with a total investment of over 293 billion VND.

The provincial Ethnic Boarding High School has a total investment of 100 billion VND, completed right before the new school year 2023 - 2024, opening a new development stage for the cradle of training human resources from ethnic minorities in the province.

Lao Cai City currently has 70 kindergartens, general schools and 35 private independent kindergarten classes; 100% have met level 1 standards. Along with that is the high school system, all of which have been invested synchronously, meeting integration requirements.

Vang Chi Thao, a student at Lao Cai Province's Ethnic Boarding High School, said: "The facilities have been invested in more, equipped with modern machinery and classrooms. We have volleyball, basketball, and soccer fields and areas for club activities."

The Canadian International School Complex in Lao Cai City is the first inter-level international school in Lao Cai Province, meeting the high-quality learning needs of students in the province and the Northwest region. The school applies a bilingual training program according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, and can meet the learning needs of about 2,000 students. The boarding block is also being built with a total investment of 100 billion VND, creating favorable conditions for students from remote areas.

In 2024, Lao Cai province completed and put into use 157 educational facilities, with more than 1,000 classrooms, 567 boarding rooms for students, dozens of multi-purpose houses and facilities serving educational activities. Right in Lao Cai city, there are new schools being invested in and built. A typical example is the investment project to build a new Lao Cai Specialized High School with a total investment of 350 billion VND, currently 90% completed. In the near future, this will be a school with synchronous, modern, smart and high-quality facilities.

Ms. Duong Bich Nguyet, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Lao Cai province, added: "In the city, there is a system of kindergartens, general schools, Canadian International School, Thai Nguyen University Branch and Lao Cai College. In the medium-term public investment plan, period 2025 - 2030, the province plans to invest in a second location of the Provincial Boarding Ethnic High School and Lao Cai City High School No. 5 to meet the population growth scale in the coming time, as well as meet the learning needs of people in Lao Cai city".

The new construction investment project of Lao Cai Specialized High School has completed 90% of the construction volume.

Lao Cai City has many schools with a long history of achievements, creating their own “brands”, along with schools that are ready to innovate, becoming bright spots in quality and educational activities. With the province’s investment, this place will be the cradle to train quality human resources for the locality and the country.
