Ha Giang is a destination every spring when all kinds of flowers bloom, nature is fresh, suitable for those who love the cold season.
48-hour itinerary in Ha Giang as suggested by Ms. Ngoc Pham, a tourist from Hanoi who came to Ha Giang last weekend, and Mr. Vi Hiep, a tour guide and driver of a travel company in Hanoi specializing in Ha Giang.
Day 1
Morning and noon
Depart from Hanoi at around 6am, have breakfast on the bus with prepared food and drinks. The distance from Hanoi to Ha Giang city is 300km, travel time is about 5 hours and 30 minutes.

Arriving in Ha Giang city, tourists stop for lunch at one of the famous restaurants here that many people recommend - Km0 Restaurant. "Delicious, easy-to-eat food with many dishes such as sour fish soup, grilled river fish with betel leaves and fish sauce, boiled cabbage with eggs, and fried meat", said Ms. Ngoc. Tourists can also choose some other restaurants in the city such as Ngoi Do and Duc Giang.
After lunch, visitors can take photos and check in at the Km0 milestone of Ha Giang City. This is the intersection of National Highway 2, National Highway 34 and National Highway 4C, also known as the starting point of the Happiness Road passing through 4 districts including Yen Minh, Quan Ba, Dong Van and Meo Vac of Ha Giang province.
Afternoon and evening
In the afternoon, move through other check-in points such as Quan Ba Heaven Gate, take pictures with Fairy Twin Mountains, and see the whole view of Tam Son town from above. This is a series of attractions located on the way between Ha Giang City and Yen Minh town.

Arrived in Yen Minh town in the evening, checked in and spent the night at Bang Thao Hotel. "The hotel is clean and fully equipped with essential amenities. There is a restaurant serving delicious rice and hot pot," said Ms. Ngoc.
Yen Minh is small, quiet at night and has few shops and activities, so tourists mainly stay in groups or drink coffee and tea at a few small shops in the town center.
Day 2
Morning and noon
Tourists depart from Yen Minh town, stop in Pho Cao commune (Dong Van district) for breakfast.
The distance is nearly 20 km, travel time is about 45 minutes. In this area, there are many typical delicious dishes such as five-color sticky rice, banh bo, thang co, and lam rice. If you come here during the market day, you should eat in the market, otherwise you can find these dishes scattered around town.
Before arriving at Pho Cao, there is a place that tourists cannot miss, which is Tham Ma slope. This is a place where taking photos from above clearly shows the winding mountain pass, which is very special, especially when tourists have just experienced that slope.
Next stop, travel from Pho Cao to Sung La, visit Lung Cam Cultural Village, where the ancient house of the H'Mong people was used as a setting for filming the movie "Pao's Story" in 2006. There are also beautiful gardens of mustard flowers and buckwheat flowers.
"Tourists can prepare some gifts and cakes for the ethnic children wearing colorful clothes to welcome guests," said Ms. Ngoc. This is also a place with many beautiful scenes, white and yellow mustard flowers and peach blossoms blooming brightly, so visitors can take many photos.
Continue along Highway 4C towards Dong Van ancient town. The distance is about 25 km with a travel time of about an hour. Stop for lunch in the town center.
Dong Van town is bustling, with many delicious dishes, large restaurants, and beautiful cafes. Visitors can choose dishes such as beef hotpot, black chicken hotpot, and thang co. Lighter dishes include rice rolls dipped in pork bone broth and au tau porridge. Pho Co Coffee is an address not to be missed after lunch.

Afternoon
Conquer Ma Pi Leng Pass, about 45 minutes from Dong Van town center. This is also the most beautiful section on the Road to Happiness .
Many people say that if you haven't visited Ma Pi Leng, you haven't been to Ha Giang. "The scenery here is truly beautiful and majestic. When I arrived in Ha Giang and saw it with my own eyes, I understood why people say you have to visit this place at least once in your life," Ngoc shared.
At Ma Pi Leng Pass, visitors can take photos at the top of the pass and then take a boat on Nho Que River to admire the majestic beauty of Tu San Canyon - the most deeply divided terrain in Vietnam. The cost of taking a boat on Nho Que River and an electric car to the boat dock is 120,000 VND per person.
Alternatives
Tourists can visit Lo Lo Chai village and Lung Cu flagpole, stay overnight here or go to some other places such as Suoi Thau grassland (Xin Man district), pine forest in Yen Minh (Yen Minh district), Meo King's mansion (Dong Van district on the way).
Ha Giang province is large and has many attractions, many mountainous roads, so traveling is quite complicated. A 48-hour trip is usually only for people with limited time, it will not be enough if tourists want to visit more places. Therefore, the above itinerary is only for reference. Tourists should combine it with a 48-hour schedule in Dong Van for a more complete, unhurried trip.
