On April 6, at the National Architectural and Artistic Relic Site of Saint Nguyen Temple, Tien Thang Commune, Gia Vien District, Ninh Binh Province, the Ceremony to Receive the Decision to Announce the List of National Intangible Cultural Heritage and the Opening of the Saint Nguyen Temple Festival 2025 took place.
Attending the event were Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh; Vice Chairwoman and General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thi Thu Ha; and representatives of leaders of central and local departments, ministries and branches.
At the ceremony, the Organizing Committee of the 2025 Nguyen Temple Festival announced Decision No. 3986/QD-BVHTTDL dated December 10, 2024 of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on recognizing the Nguyen Temple Festival as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage.
On behalf of the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr. Hoang Dao Cuong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, presented the Certificate of National Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Nguyen Temple Festival to the representative of Tien Thang commune.
Chairman of Gia Vien District People's Committee Pham Van Tam said that the traditional festival of Saint Nguyen Temple is imbued with historical and cultural festival associated with the life, career and legend of Zen master Nguyen Minh Khong; plays a particularly important role in the cultural and spiritual life of the community and is a creative product demonstrating community cohesion.
The cultural identity in the Nguyen Temple Festival has been maintained, practiced and passed down from generation to generation by the community, and has a strong influence on the spiritual and cultural life of the people of Gia Vien district and visitors from all over the world.
The Chairman of the Gia Vien District People's Committee affirmed that the cultural heritage related to National Master Nguyen Minh Khong in general and the intangible heritage of the Traditional Festival of Saint Nguyen Temple in particular are invaluable assets.
The longer it lasts and the more it is exploited, the greater its value. In particular, when these heritage values are deeply rooted in the spiritual and cultural life of the people, they become the foundation of morality, social culture, creating motivation to build the culture of Gia Vien, Ninh Binh people, contributing to the cause of building an advanced Vietnamese culture, imbued with national identity, meeting the requirements of protecting, building and developing the country - the period of national development.
In recent years, with the efforts and determination to preserve the relic, restore, conserve and promote the unique features of the relic, the Nguyen Temple Festival has been held regularly every year and has been upgraded in scale, content and space for both the ceremony and festival.

Coming to the Saint Nguyen Temple Festival in 2025, people and tourists will learn about the Holy Medicine, the Saint Nguyen herbal medicine garden, learn about the unique architectural features of the Later Le Dynasty and especially enjoy and immerse themselves in a unique spiritual cultural space of 13 traditional rituals such as Te Moc Duc, Te Cao Yet, Te Luc Khuc, Hat Chau Ke... showing respect to Saint Nguyen Minh Khong.
In addition, visitors can also experience 20 unique and attractive activities of the festival such as human chess competition, releasing flower lanterns, swimming on the Hoang Long Co River, enjoying tea, vegetarian herbal cuisine...
These are precious intangible cultural features that are being restored, inherited and developed. At the opening ceremony, a special art program took place with the theme: "The legend of Ly Quoc Su Minh Khong appears forever - Gia Vien shines a bright countryside."
On this occasion, the Festival Organizing Committee also distributed 960 herbal medicine bags to the people and tourists and 960 yellow camellia trees - Ninh Binh's Holy Flower to the Management Boards of the relics of temples and pagodas worshipping Duc Thanh, bronze casting villages, hospitals, medical units and ancient medicine pots of Gia Vien at the gate of Vong Lau - the old house where Duc Thanh studied with his master, where the imprints of the Thach Dang Tree and the Stone Book Tree remain./.
