After the merger, people still retain many cultural beauties.
According to documents, during the French colonial period, Yen Binh commune was called Quang Dieu commune, belonging to Luong Son district, Hoa Binh province. After many times of merging communes, in 1956, the name Yen Binh was established, still belonging to Luong Son district, Hoa Binh province.
On August 1, 2008, implementing Resolution No. 15/2008/QH12 of the 12th National Assembly on adjusting the administrative boundaries of Hanoi city and some related provinces, Yen Binh commune was among the 4 communes of Luong Son district, Hoa Binh province (including Yen Binh, Yen Trung, Tien Xuan and Dong Xuan) merged into the two districts of Thach That and Quoc Oai of Hanoi capital.
Currently, the whole Yen Binh commune has a total natural land area of more than 2,000 hectares, with 6 villages, more than 1,900 households, with 2 ethnic groups living together, Kinh and Muong, in which Muong people account for more than 40% of the population...
Talking to Dan Viet reporter, Ms. Doan Thi Thinh - Chairman of Yen Binh Commune People's Committee said that after many times of merging and consolidating to the capital, with 40% of the population being Muong ethnic group, the people still retain their own cultural identity. Regarding tangible culture, there are stilt houses, costumes, cuisine and utensils in production and daily life. Regarding intangible culture, there are languages, singing and dancing melodies, sports, folk games... Currently, 10/10 villages of the commune have gong teams, creating a joyful and healthy playground for the people, preserving the national cultural identity.
"After decades of development, Yen Binh still retains many unique and distinctive lifestyles to attract tourists from afar. The Muong people's culture is not only reflected in the regularly held gong festivals but also in their cuisine, which makes them different from many neighboring regions," Ms. Thinh shared.
In particular, with its mountainous terrain, waterfalls, natural lakes, cool climate, large forest areas and the daily life of the Muong ethnic group, which still maintains terraced fields, Yen Binh has many conditions to build new experiential tourism products for visitors.

Many millionaires and billionaires appear
Recalling the early days of the merger with Hanoi, Mr. Pham Van Minh in Yen Binh commune said: In 2008, Yen Binh was very poor, the roads were made of rough dirt and rocks. On sunny days, the sky was covered with dust, and during the rainy season, it was muddy, and some villages were isolated. People's lives were deprived in every way, and the poverty rate was always above double digits.
"On the first day of the merger, people in the villages were still hesitant and worried about the new and losing their cultural identity, but over the years, people's lives and incomes have increased, but traditional cultural beauty has been preserved and maintained, so everyone is happier, more excited and proud," Mr. Minh added.
The Chairman of Yen Binh Commune People's Committee affirmed: After nearly 16 years, the rural picture of Yen Binh has completely changed. The infrastructure system and economic structure have been gradually completed, meeting the needs of production development; ensuring stable people's lives.
The commune's transportation network has been comprehensively invested in and renovated, all roads have been upgraded and concreted, the dusty sun and muddy rain are now only in memory. The electricity system has been planned and built basically, meeting well the electricity needs for people's daily life and production. The medical stations providing health care for the people have been completed and basically meet national medical standards with synchronous medical examination and treatment facilities and a team of doctors and nurses with standardized qualifications.
In the period 2008 - 2017 alone, Yen Binh commune has invested more than 200 billion VND in 22 projects such as schools, medical stations, transportation, irrigation, cultural houses... Policies and projects for mountainous communes are decentralized to the commune as the investor to implement very smoothly and effectively.
In addition, the implementation of priority policies on economic development has been effectively implemented by the commune, such as supporting science and technology, seedlings, and fertilizers in converting crop structure. Implementing the policy of converting mixed gardens and hills for low income to grow grapefruit, red-fleshed dragon fruit, fruit trees, safe vegetables, etc. all bring high economic efficiency to the people.
Currently, 100% of the villages in the commune have achieved the title of cultural village and are connected to the internet. In addition, the cultural and spiritual life of the people has also been improved. The most notable thing is that the commune has completed 19/19 new rural criteria and was recognized by the city as a commune meeting new rural standards in 2015.

In which, the value structure of the following sectors: agriculture, forestry, and fishery is 24.15%; industry and handicrafts are 34.96%; trade and services are 40.89%.
"One of the most impressive figures is the poverty rate and income. If the poverty rate in 2007 was 14.2%, the average income was only 9 million VND/person/year, now Yen Binh has no more poor households, the average income has increased to nearly 100 million VND/person/year. In the next 5 years, Yen Binh aims to increase people's income to 120 million VND/person/year.
