Artist Xuan Hinh was born in 1960 in Bac Ninh. Throughout the late 90s and early 2000s, Xuan Hinh was the name that dominated the Northern comedy market.
Ever since he was studying at the University of Theatre and Cinema, artist Xuan Hinh showed his acting ability and after graduating was retained to teach but he refused because he wanted to be free to fly and perform on stage.
1988 marked Xuan Hinh's first success when he participated in the famous clown act Cu Sut in the Laughter Festival, performing for 2 months at the Vietnam - Soviet Union Friendship Cultural Palace, receiving enthusiastic cheers from the audience.
From that success, Xuan Hinh continued to venture into the stage of cheo and comedy and achieved many resounding achievements with a series of performances such as Fortune Teller Goes to Market, Clown with Stick Following the Teacher, Clown with Bait Fighting, Thi Mau Goes to the Temple, Horse Man - Horse Man, Wine Husband, De Wife ...
Or a series of skits that the audience cannot help but remember: Xuan Hinh goes to ask for a wife, Xuan Hinh goes to see a doctor, Xuan Hinh goes to karaoke, Xuan Hinh practices for a beauty pageant...

With the ability to sing many musical genres such as Cheo, Xam, Chau Van... and a simple yet satirical performance, the male artist's works always contain profound meanings revolving around life issues, receiving the love of many generations of audiences.
Therefore, the audience affectionately calls Xuan Hinh "King of Cheo clowns", "King of tapes and discs", "King of Northern comedy"... however, the male artist only humbly admits that he is "a folk entertainer".
"Because I represent the poor, the simple people who are easy to approach and easy to meet. I struggle with the lives of the working people. I sympathize with the situation of the working people," he shared with Dan Tri reporter.
In 2016, he held a live show called Xuan Hinh - Folk Joke to celebrate 40 years of tireless artistic endeavor. The show brought many special emotions to the audience.
Compared by People's Artist Hong Van to the "treasure" of the art world, artist Xuan Hinh's early retirement in 2017 made many colleagues and audiences regretful.
Successful in his career, Xuan Hinh also has a happy family. His wife is Mrs. Nguyen Phuong Lan, from Hanoi, the two met in 1993 and got married in early 1995. Before that, his wife was an accountant, after marriage, she quit her job as an accountant, stayed at home as a housewife and managed the family.
At the end of 1995, his wife gave birth to their first daughter, Bao Linh (who received a scholarship to study in the US since grade 11. His daughter is now married. His second son, Xuan Quang, is studying in France.
When Dan Tri reporter asked Xuan Hinh: People say you are very afraid of your wife, is that true? He shared: "It's right to be afraid, she takes care of my food and clothes, if I'm not afraid I'll go out right away. If she goes somewhere for half a month, I'll be in a lot of trouble.
Everyone, try to calculate, if you hire a maid now, paying her a salary of 10 million, it still won't be as good as having your wife bring you food and water.

The male artist said that since getting married, he has never dared to "turn on" his wife, he gives in to keep the family peaceful. In terms of family matters, his wife takes charge, and he decides on the big things.
"In real life, she is a pleasant person, taking care of the house and children so I can go to shows. Many people ask: "Does Xuan Hinh give all his money to his wife?". To be honest, I don't have any money to give, whatever I have is spent on food and drink, so what else is there?", Xuan Hinh said.
The "folk humorist" recounted that since getting married, he and his wife had a convention that whenever there was a conflict, the wife would be the first to apologize, but the one who apologized was the winner, so no matter what, the male artist's wife was always the first to apologize.
"Women are gentle and understanding. When my husband is angry, I hug him and coo, and then I stop being angry. That said, I don't argue with my wife, I can't even flatter her enough," Xuan Hinh added.
The male artist said that because he is an artist, he travels to many places to perform, but his wife is not jealous. There were a few times when his wife hinted at him, but he said: "I wasn't like that when I was young, what do you worry about when I'm old?", and the comedian's wife laughed it off.
When his eldest daughter got married, he also let her choose freely. He said that young people now love differently from the previous generation, so he also gently confided in his daughter so that she could take care of her own family.
"In the past, my wife also tricked me into marrying her. I used to be very handsome, but now I'm not (laughs). Every family is like that, two strangers marry each other, at first they don't get along right away, but then because of their responsibilities to the family and children, they both build a home together," he confided.
Considered a "tycoon" of the Northern comedy scene, possessing an impressive fortune accumulated over many years of working, Xuan Hinh still maintains a simple life. He often appears with a simple, even somewhat sloppy appearance.
Xuan Hinh also doesn't care about food, the male comedian's usual meals are rarely elaborate, just his favorite dishes like pickled eggplant, pickled cucumber, rice soup, vermicelli with crab...
"I'm old and can't eat much, just enough nutrition is enough. I don't have many needs, I just drive an old car," he confided.

He confided that material things and the extravagance of the art world are all outside the family door. For him, happiness and peace are the warmth of his family, the moments he spends with his wife and children.
In addition to spending time with his family or enjoying gardening, he also regularly meets friends and close artists. Occasionally, Xuan Hinh also takes on some shows to meet the audience and relieve his longing for the profession.
"I go to work to know that I'm still "high" on stage. Money and salary are not important to me. At this age, I'm happy and enjoy going to work," he shared.
