Shuttle bus overcrowded with passengers, "causing chaos" on the way to Nua - Am Tien temple (Video: Thanh Tung).
On the morning of January 9, the spring of Giap Thin 2024, a large number of tourists flocked to the national historical and cultural relic site of Nua - Am Tien temple (Nua town, Trieu Son district, Thanh Hoa province) to attend the "opening of the gate to heaven" ceremony.
Due to the heavy traffic, it is impossible to move to the parking lot at the temple gate, many visitors choose to park their vehicles at the foot of Nua mountain to walk or take the management board's shuttle bus to Nua - Am Tien temple to burn incense and pray for good luck.
However, many tourists reported that during the travel process, the shuttle buses of the management board did not ensure safety. Specifically, the shuttle bus drivers drove recklessly, overloaded passengers, causing insecurity for tourists.
"Every time we see a shuttle bus passing by, we are very nervous. Even though the road is crowded, the drivers drive very fast, especially when going downhill, they honk loudly and drive haphazardly along the road. This is a spiritual tourist area, the management board needs to take measures to avoid unfortunate situations from happening," said Nguyen Van Cuong (tourist).
According to Dan Tri reporters, there are dozens of shuttle buses at the Nua - Am Tien temple relic site. The type of vehicles used by the management board to transport visitors are 9-seat cars and modified trucks (shaped like electric cars).
It is worth mentioning that most of these vehicles carry more people than the prescribed number, with passengers standing precariously on the vehicle's ramp, making it unsafe. Even the trucks imitating electric vehicles do not have license plates.
While driving on the road, these vehicles drive recklessly and speed, causing dust to fly everywhere every time they pass through a dirt road.
Every time the shuttle bus passes over the dirt road, visitors enjoy a dust storm.
The buses continuously left the station, crammed with tourists.
Through research, the price of each shuttle bus trip is calculated at 25,000 VND/person, the journey from the foot of the mountain to Nua - Am Tien temple (about 5km). For the price of the truck "imitation" electric car, visitors have to pay 10,000 VND/person to go from the parking lot (nearly 1km from the temple) to near the temple gate. In the photo, many visitors are waiting for their turn to get on the shuttle bus to return to the parking lot.
Regarding the incident, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Luan - Chairman of Trieu Son District People's Committee - said that the unit had received the information and directed Mr. Le Quang Trung - Vice Chairman of Trieu Son District People's Committee - to inspect and handle the matter.
