Following the success of the Think Games event in 2021 and 2022, Google expanded the Think Apps program to include developers outside the gaming industry, making the event more inclusive for the app developer community in Vietnam.
Think Apps attracts a lot of attention on the afternoon of July 20
With a diverse audience, Think Apps updates professional reports and market trends from leading international experts through three core contents: Build for Quality; Build for Profitability; Build for Sustainability to help developers grow and scale their businesses in the most sustainable way.
The App and Game industry in Vietnam is asserting its position in both the domestic and international markets. According to a report by DataAI & AppMagic, from 2019 to the first quarter of 2023, Vietnam has jumped from the top 15 to the top 5 globally in terms of app downloads, corresponding to 4.2 billion downloads of applications released by Vietnamese app developers.

The report also shows that Vietnam is growing 2.5 times faster than other countries in the world. In 2022, revenue from in-app purchases in Vietnamese-developed apps increased by 20%; while global revenue in this segment decreased by 2%. Notably, there are 93 game and application development companies in Vietnam that own 171 applications that have at least once successfully entered the top 10 weekly downloads on the Play Store.
Four Vietnamese app developers have made it into the Global Top 50 Companies with New Apps That Reached 100K Downloads in 2022, including Falcon Global, ABI Global, Zego Global, and Rocket Studio. Vietnam has emerged as a hub for top developers, cementing its reputation as a powerhouse in the app development industry.
Mr. Marc Woo - Managing Director in charge of Vietnam, Google Asia - Pacific delivered the opening speech at the event.
Reports also show that Vietnamese developers are facing many challenges such as: Loss of growth momentum in downloads, slower growth in IAP revenue and decreasing eCPM (estimated revenue received per thousand ad impressions), and a 5% decrease in user engagement (as of the end of the first half of 2023). To help Vietnamese developers overcome this challenging period, Think Apps 2023 has introduced three specialized workshops:

With this free, in-depth training program, leading Vietnamese studios will have the opportunity to be trained in developing creative thinking, introduced to new game making solutions, helping them build unique game making ideas. This program is implemented by Google and industry experts to provide practical examples and guidelines to convey the art and science of game design, and introduce the latest solutions to help game developers build high-quality products on Google Play and Android.
