Small actions, big meaning
Every afternoon after work, after cleaning the house and yard, Mr. Le Ngoc Son (Ward 4, Tuong Binh Hiep Ward, Thu Dau Mot City) often takes a bamboo broom to sweep around the small alley in front of his house. According to Mr. Son: "Cleaning the house is not enough, I want the road leading to my house to be clean at all times, so I often take the initiative to clean it every day". Not only Mr. Son, without anyone reminding anyone, the households in this alley all agree to keep the road clean by voluntarily cleaning it every day.
In addition to preserving the environment, in recent times, people in localities in the province have also maintained a "green lifestyle" by proactively planting many trees and ornamental flowers in their homes and yards, despite the limited land fund. Ms. Ho Ngoc Thanh Truc, Ward 4, Hiep Thanh Ward (Thu Dau Mot City), shared: "My house has a small yard, I plant many types of ornamental flowers to help purify the air. Trees play an extremely important role in our lives. Planting and caring for trees is also a way to make the living space more comfortable and relaxing."

It can be said that the highlight of the movement to build a cultural and moral lifestyle in the province in recent times is the spread of beautiful and meaningful actions originating from the awareness and responsibility of each individual. On the streets, images of free water bottles, "zero-dong" clothing stalls or images of people participating in traffic safely, lining up in order, giving way to pedestrians, the elderly, children... have become much more common. These small actions, although simple, contribute to spreading the message of civilization, politeness, and friendliness to the community...
Responding to "Civilized Saturday"
During the recent campaign to "green the city" in response to the "Civilized Saturday" of the Fatherland Front of Thu Dau Mot City, hundreds of front officials, members of the self-management team for environmental protection (BVMT) and people had the opportunity to watch the skit "It's great to understand" performed by members of the "Mobile propaganda team to guide the classification of domestic solid waste at source" of Phu Cuong Ward. The "actors" are members of the "Mobile propaganda team to guide the classification of domestic solid waste at source" of the ward playing the role of residents living together in a small neighborhood. Conflicts arise when waste treatment is not carried out properly. Some people still do not have awareness of environmental protection. Through humorous details, the "actors" all hope that everyone will have awareness of environmental protection through the action of classifying solid waste. This is a new model of the Fatherland Front of Thu Dau Mot City to contribute to innovating the form of propaganda; Improve the quality and effectiveness of propaganda work on classifying domestic solid waste at source, protecting the environment and responding to climate change.
According to Ms. Truong Thi Thu Hien, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thu Dau Mot City, the model aims to raise awareness, gradually form the habit and voluntarily implement the classification of domestic solid waste at source in each organization, household and individual. For that reason, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city developed a plan and selected the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Phu Cuong Ward as a point to establish and launch the "Propaganda Team, guiding the classification of domestic solid waste at source" and replicate it in the remaining 13 wards.
At 79 years old, Mr. Bui Duc Dong (Phu Tho ward) did not mind the sun or rain to join nearly 300 people to plant 600 periwinkle flowers on Bui Ngoc Thu street (Tuong Binh Hiep ward), a street managed by the Fatherland Front Committee of Thu Dau Mot city. While hoeing the land to plant trees, Mr. Dong smiled and said: “Although I am old, planting trees is not too much for me, as long as I have the strength, I will continue to do it. Not only in my own house, I want to plant trees everywhere with everyone. Planting trees is to contribute to improving the quality of life…”.
Sharing the same opinion with Mr. Dong, Mr. Nguyen Duy Tang (Phu Tho ward) said: “Planting trees not only improves the ecological environment, beautifies the landscape of your home and the city, but planting one more tree is doing something useful for life together…”.
Regarding the tree planting campaign, Ms. Truong Thi Thu Hien added: “With the practical significance of the campaign "greening the city" and aiming to build a "Green - friendly city" in the period of 2024-2030 and the following years in Thu Dau Mot City, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city determines its responsibility in propagating and mobilizing member organizations, religious organizations, union members, association members and people to join hands to actively respond so that the campaign spreads widely to achieve the goals and tasks according to the set plan".
The “Civilized Saturday” of the cadres, party members and people of Thu Dau Mot City has demonstrated the sense of responsibility of the entire political system, union members, association members and people in the area in voluntarily launching environmental sanitation campaigns. This is also the passion and responsibility of the City Party Committee in promoting socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security along with environmental protection and improving the quality of life of the people, aiming to build a “Green - Friendly City”, a place worth investing, living and working…
