Musician of love and homeland
Trinh Cong Son was not only a musician, he was a poet of music. Each of his songs was a narrative about love, about life, about human destiny. In which, love for homeland and country was always a deep source, imbued in every note of music.
During the war years, amidst the smoke and fire of bombs, Trinh Cong Son wrote anti-war songs with poignant melodies and humane lyrics. Songs such as: Gia tai cua me, Dai cannon lulled at night, Nguoi con gai Viet Nam da vang… were not only his own voice, but also the common feelings of many generations about peace, about the desire to live in freedom. He used music to raise the voice of a sorrowful but resilient and indomitable nation.
After 1975, Trinh's music continued to resonate with "A realm to go back", "Let the wind take you away", "Do you still remember or have you forgotten"... expressing his philosophy of life and contemplation of human life. His music at that time was no longer haunted by war, but became songs of love for life, evoking compassion and tolerance.
