In 2024, the rural road connecting Provincial Road 816 to the Cong An canal embankment, located in Hamlet 3, Binh Hoa Nam Commune, Duc Hue District, Long An Province, was upgraded with a new roadbed, widened, and paved with blue stone, much to the delight of the local people.

Mr. La Thanh Tuoi (Hamlet 3, Binh Hoa Nam Commune) said: “This road used to be small and narrow, only wide enough for motorbikes. Now, the road has been widened, making not only travel more convenient but also easier for transporting agricultural products, so everyone is happy.” Like other households with residential and agricultural land along the road, Mr. Tuoi voluntarily donated nearly 100 square ^meters of land to widen the road.

According to Mr. Tươi, the high level of public consensus was due to the village Party Committee, the village committee, and the project implementation committee clearly explaining the benefits of developing rural transportation. In particular, the important role of Party Committee member of Hamlet 3, social worker of Binh Hoa Nam commune - Nguyen Van Men, was crucial.

As a respected local figure, Mr. Men and the campaign committee dedicated considerable time to promoting and encouraging residents to donate land for road construction. He meticulously explained the benefits of expanding rural roads during his visits to people's homes for tea. Because they understood the benefits, the residents showed high levels of agreement. Not only did they donate land, but they also cleared vegetation and structures on their land to facilitate road construction.

Mr. Men stated that currently, the road from Provincial Road 816 to the Cong An canal embankment is about 50% complete, with the remaining section to be constructed in the coming time. Initially, the Party branch will raise funds to illuminate the rural road and plant trees along both sides.

Mr. Men said: “To date, 50% of the rural roads in the hamlet have been concreted, and 100% of rural bridges are concrete bridges. The Party branch has also implemented two projects to create bright, green, clean, and beautiful roads, and this year we will continue to implement the project on the route from Provincial Road 816 to the Cong An canal embankment. The project has been included in the Party branch's resolution, so we will strive to complete it.”

As a social worker, Mr. Men is well-versed in the difficult circumstances of the local community, reporting them to his superiors and providing appropriate support and assistance. “I don’t directly help individual families, but I accompany survey teams, participate in fundraising, and offer suggestions on what kind of support each household needs. When those in need receive help, I feel truly happy,” Mr. Men shared.

That very joy keeps him enthusiastic and energetic in his work, rain or shine! It is also that which earns him the trust of the local people. Mr. Men is one of the exemplary party members who has consistently performed his duties excellently for many years in Binh Hoa Nam commune.

Through his efforts in building charitable houses, contributing to rural road construction, and supporting disadvantaged households, Mr. Men has spread the spirit of solidarity, acting as a key figure in working together for the community and contributing to the successful development of the new rural commune.
