Late on February 11 (January 14 of the lunar calendar), thousands of people flocked to Ba Thien Hau Pagoda (Thu Dau Mot City, Binh Duong) to burn incense and collect ashes for good luck.
The festival of Ba Binh Duong Pagoda (also known as Ba Thien Hau Temple), which takes place annually on the full moon day of the first lunar month, attracts tens of thousands of people from all over to offer incense.
According to Dan Tri reporters on the evening of February 11, although the main ceremony had not yet taken place, thousands of people had flocked to the main hall of Ba Pagoda to line up to offer incense and jostle each other to pick up the ashes in the incense burner with the belief of bringing them home for good luck.
At 9:30 p.m., the main hall of Ba Pagoda was packed with people, everyone bringing incense, fruits and many offerings to pray for good luck.
To get to the incense burner in the main hall of Ba Temple, many people had to jostle and push to reach this area. A woman had her hair disheveled as she jostled through the crowd to offer incense to Ba.
Mr. Tran Vinh An, representative of the Thien Hau Temple Management Board, said that since the first day of Tet until now, the temple has welcomed about 90,000 visitors.
"This year the number of visitors to Ba Temple is lower than previous years, however security is still tight, ensuring the festival takes place safely and solemnly," said Mr. An.
Late at night, the number of people flocking to the main hall of Ba Pagoda increased, many people tried to push their way up to the incense burner area to collect ashes for good luck.
People struggled to jostle and push in the incense burner area to try to get a handful of ashes.
The ashes in the incense burner are taken out by people and put into bags to take home with the hope of bringing good luck to the home.

Mr. Le Long (HCMC) traveled more than 30km to attend the ceremony at Ba Temple. "Every year, at this time, I bring offerings to burn incense at Ba Temple with the hope of praying for good luck and peace for my family," Mr. Long shared.
Although it was late at night, many young people still went to Ba Temple to burn incense and pray for good luck in the new year.
After the ceremony at Ba Temple, a woman bought 5 birds to release.
Almost midnight, but people still continued to flock to Ba Temple area to celebrate.
According to Mr. Tran Vinh An, representative of the Thien Hau Temple Management Board, this year the Ba Temple festival will have a palanquin procession at 4:00 p.m. on February 12 (January 15 of the lunar calendar), with 60 groups participating in the parade, with more than 1,000 people including actors and security forces.
