Speaking at the opening ceremony, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Museum Doan Thuy Trang emphasized the significance of the exhibition in preserving and spreading artistic values associated with history. The 300 works exhibited this time by the late painter Huynh Phuong Dong are not only valuable documents about the resistance war but also demonstrate the aesthetic thinking and national spirit of the artist on the battlefield.

“The exhibition aims to introduce the special representative works of the late painter Huynh Phuong Dong, depicting touching, noble and humane stories along with images bearing the mark and journey through wartime to reach the days of independence.
At the same time, we want to create a special cultural heritage space for artisans and artists to have a space to enjoy works of art right in the heart of the city," said Ms. Doan Thuy Trang.

At the exhibition, Ms. Le Thi Thu, wife of the late painter Huynh Phuong Dong, shared: “During his 90 years of life, 70 years of studying, composing and contributing to the Fatherland, he had a fulfilling life, full of painting. As his comrade and wife who accompanied him for 58 years, more than anyone else, I am extremely proud. The Huynh Phuong Dong Journey exhibition series is the gift that his family gave him on the occasion of his 100th birthday.”
In addition to the sketches, the exhibition also displays many documents, images and artifacts related to the late artist's creative process, helping the public better understand the context of the paintings and the profound meaning of art associated with history.
