The race is an event to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025); the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2; the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday; and the 139th anniversary of International Labor Day May 1.

Attending the opening ceremony were comrade Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association .
Also attending were leaders of the Vietnam Sports Administration; leaders of Tuyen Quang province, and leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the race, Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, said that this is the 37th journey with the meaning of celebrating the 50th anniversary of National Reunification Day April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025, and the 50th anniversary of the first broadcast of Ho Chi Minh City Television.
The 37th Ho Chi Minh City Television Cup HTV-Ton Dong A continues to be one of the key cultural and sporting events of Ho Chi Minh City as well as the country.

With that role, the opening ceremony in Tuyen Quang is very meaningful. This is the place associated with important historical events, creating a turning point in the national liberation of President Ho Chi Minh during the August Revolution.
The most prominent is the Tan Trao resistance zone, which used to be the "Provisional Capital of the Liberated Zone", where the Communist Party of Vietnam held a National Conference on August 13, 1945 to decide on a general uprising and resistance war against the French.

This year's race has 105 athletes from 15 cycling clubs across the country and foreign athletes participating.
Over 25 stages with a total length of 3,059km, the stages pass through the provinces of Vinh Phuc, Hanoi Capital, Ha Nam, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong, Binh Thuan, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Dong Nai, Long An, Tien Giang, Can Tho, Vinh Long, Tra Vinh, Ben Tre, Tay Ninh, Binh Duong and the finishing point is in front of Thong Nhat Hall - Ho Chi Minh City at noon on April 30.

The race will go through 8 passes, of which Khanh Le Pass, located between Da Lat and Nha Trang, promises to be the biggest challenge and is also the only pass classified as category 1. In addition, the race will have notable stages such as the 24km team time trial in Cua Lo (Nghe An) and five stages around major cities.
This is a long, difficult and challenging route with continuous challenges for cyclists, promising good and breakthrough performances.

Comrade Hoang Viet Phuong, Vice Chairman of Tuyen Quang Provincial People's Committee, assessed that the national cycling race for the Ho Chi Minh City Television Cup is a unique traditional sports activity, continuously maintained for the past 37 years by Ho Chi Minh City Television.
This is a widely influential event, with the participation of hundreds of professional athletes from all over the country and international athletes; attracting millions of domestic and foreign fans to watch and cheer.

It is even more special and meaningful when this year's race with the theme "The country is one strip", is opened and organized with the first stage, the second stage right in the historic homeland of Tan Trao; at a time when the people of all ethnic groups in Tuyen Quang province, together with the people of the whole country, are striving to compete and achieve achievements to celebrate many important events of the country.
Besides, this is also the starting activity for a series of unique cultural and sports activities and events within the framework of the Opening Program of the Tourism Year of Tuyen Quang Province in 2025.

This is also a campaign to deeply propagate and educate the glorious patriotic and heroic traditions of the Vietnamese people; to introduce and promote to the public, domestic and foreign tourists the cultural values, people and unique tourism products of Tuyen Quang as well as the 31 provinces and cities that the race will pass through.

After the opening ceremony, the athletes entered the first stage of the 46km race with 20 laps around Tuyen Quang city.
Under the enthusiastic cheers of the audience, the racers gave dramatic, fierce and attractive competitions.

At the end of stage 1, racer Loic Desriac - Domesco Dong Thap Pharmaceutical Team won first prize in the first race; racer Nick Kergozou of Vinh Long Agriculture 620 Team won second prize; third place went to racer Nguyen Van Binh of Ho Chi Minh City Team.
Rider Loic Desriac - Domesco Dong Thap Pharmaceutical Team also won the Yellow Jersey and Green Jersey; rider Dang Van Phat of 620 Chau Thoi Vinh Long Racing Team won the White Jersey; rider Nguyen Van Binh of Ho Chi Minh City Racing Team won the Orange Jersey.

Stage 2 of the 37th Ho Chi Minh City Television Cup National Cycling Race will continue on April 4, starting from Tan Trao National Special Historical Relic Site (Tuyen Quang) - Vinh Phuc - Dong Anh (Hanoi), distance 130km.
