NDO - On the afternoon of March 18, at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Uzbekistan Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov, who is on an official visit to Vietnam from March 17 to 19.

At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam always remembers Uzbekistan's sincere support for Vietnam in the struggle for independence; attaches importance to the traditional friendship with the former Soviet republics, including Uzbekistan; highly appreciates the significance of the first visit to Vietnam by an Uzbekistani Foreign Minister since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1992; believes that the visit of Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov will make an important contribution to promoting and expanding bilateral cooperation in the coming time. The Prime Minister said that on the basis of the traditional friendship, it is necessary to promote comprehensive cooperation through Party, Government, and National Assembly channels through delegation exchanges; as well as establish new cooperation mechanisms between ministries and branches. Regarding trade and economy, the Prime Minister said that the two countries have the potential to complement each other; agreed with the proposals of Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov and suggested increasing the exchange of goods of both sides' strengths such as cotton, raw materials from Uzbekistan and seafood, textiles, and electronics from Vietnam. The Prime Minister suggested strengthening cooperation in key industries of both sides such as oil and gas, agriculture to ensure energy security and food security, and promoting cooperation with localities of the two countries. The Prime Minister suggested strengthening cooperation at regional and international forums. Vietnam is ready to act as a bridge between Uzbekistan and ASEAN countries, and asked Uzbekistan to support Vietnam in strengthening cooperation with Central Asian countries in the spirit of good friends and responsible partners. For his part, Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov expressed his pleasure in visiting Vietnam for the first time and thanked the Prime Minister for taking the time to receive the delegation. Uzbek Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov conveyed the regards of the President of Uzbekistan to the senior leaders of Vietnam and wished to welcome a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to Uzbekistan in the near future. Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov affirmed that Uzbekistan wishes to further promote the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam, especially in economics, trade and investment; affirmed that the two sides have great potential for cooperation; and expressed agreement with the cooperation orientations that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh mentioned at the reception.![]() |

Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov reported to the Prime Minister on the content of the talks with Minister Bui Thanh Son, saying that the two sides will agree on a cooperation program between the two Foreign Ministries in the coming time; as well as coordinate with relevant ministries and branches to perfect the legal basis, bringing bilateral relations into greater depth and substance in the fields of economy-trade, education, culture, people-to-people exchange, etc. The Prime Minister highly appreciated the results of the talks between Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov and Minister Bui Thanh Son, and suggested that the Foreign Ministries of the two countries further promote their coordinating role so that bilateral cooperation in various fields will achieve many results in the coming time. In particular, the two sides need to coordinate to effectively organize a meeting between businesses and localities of the two countries on March 19, 2024. The Prime Minister also suggested that the two countries further promote cooperation in education, training, culture, arts, tourism and people-to-people exchanges, contacts between political and social organizations such as alumni and youth, etc., contributing to enhancing understanding among the younger generation and fostering friendship between the people of the two countries.
