In an interview before the international friendly football tournament in Chongqing, China, coach Mai Duc Chung affirmed that this is a good opportunity for the Vietnamese women's team in the process of rejuvenation and preparing for the future.
"This tournament takes place during the process of the Vietnamese women's football team's rejuvenation. Therefore, this will be a good opportunity for the players to learn from their opponents and accumulate experience for the future," coach Mai Duc Chung assessed.

The Vietnamese women's team will face Uzbekistan and China in an international friendly match. According to the schedule, the Vietnamese women's team will compete with the Uzbekistan women's team at 2:30 p.m. on October 23. Then, coach Mai Duc Chung's team will face the Chinese women's team at 6:35 p.m. on October 29.
At the meeting, coach Mai Duc Chung thanked the Chinese Football Association (CFA) for inviting the Vietnamese women's team to participate in the tournament, as well as the leadership of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) for creating conditions for the team to be here for a friendly match between China and Uzbekistan.
Before leaving for this tournament, the Vietnamese women's team also made personnel adjustments when striker Nguyen Thi Tuyet Ngan was injured and had to be treated, forcing the coaching staff to call up additional striker Vu Thi Hoa.
Also at the press conference, head coach of the Uzbekistan women's team Vladimir Panov expressed his appreciation for the tournament when he was able to compete with quality opponents in the continent.
As the host team, the head coach of the Chinese women's team thanked the two teams for accepting to participate in the tournament, and hoped that the teams would complete their set goals.

At 5:15 p.m. this afternoon (October 22), coach Mai Duc Chung and his team will have an official training session at the Chongqing Sports Center.
"With our opponent Uzbekistan, we lost to them 0-1 in the Paris Olympic qualifiers. I will never forget that match. Uzbekistan women's football has improved and is our opponent competing for a World Cup ticket. The opponent is tall, strong and physically fit. The upcoming matches will help the Vietnamese women's team compete and gain experience.
The players will understand what they lack to supplement for next year, with 3 qualifying tournaments of Asian Cup 2026, AFF Cup 2025 and SEA Games 33," coach Mai Duc Chung affirmed the importance of the tournament for the Vietnamese women's team, in the context that women's football will not have any official tournament at the team level in 2024.
