On November 28, in response to a reporter's question asking for Vietnam's reaction to the recent ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah, Spokesperson of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang stated:
“Vietnam welcomes the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah, calling on relevant parties to immediately implement the agreement towards long-term and sustainable peace in the region, ensuring security, safety and people's lives.
We support all efforts to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, end the conflict, and contribute to creating a peaceful and stable environment in the Middle East.”
Earlier, US President Joe Biden and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron announced on November 26 that Israel and Lebanon had accepted Washington's proposal for a ceasefire between Israel and the Hezbollah movement.
The 60-day ceasefire took effect from 4:00 a.m. on November 27 local time (9:00 a.m. the same day Hanoi time), opening up expectations of achieving a long-term ceasefire.
The ceasefire is expected to help end fighting that has forced tens of thousands of people in Israel and hundreds of thousands more in Lebanon to flee their homes, especially since September.
