According to VNA correspondent in South Asia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Overseas Labor and Tourism of Sri Lanka recently organized the 2024 Cultural Festival in the capital Colombo.

Attending the Festival on December 7 were senior leaders of the host country such as Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya, Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath, Permanent Deputy Minister Aruni Ranaraja and leaders of diplomatic missions and international organizations based in Colombo.

The event also attracted the participation of many local businesses, press agencies, local people and the foreign community living and studying in Sri Lanka...

This year's festival was carefully and methodically organized by the Sri Lankan Ministry of Foreign Affairs with many rich and unique activities such as souvenir booths, food booths, parades, art performances, fashion shows...

In particular, the parade with traditional costumes of the countries is a new feature, attracting the participation of many diplomatic missions.

With the desire to introduce Vietnamese culture and bring the image of the homeland to local and international people, the Vietnamese Embassy in Sri Lanka and the community actively contributed to many activities at the festival, including introducing handicraft products and Vietnamese Pho; parading with other countries in national costumes; performing unique conical hat and bamboo dances; and participating in fashion shows to support the promotion of Sri Lankan silk products.

Vietnamese products and pho have attracted a large number of Sri Lankans and international friends. In particular, dance performances by Sri Lankan children who love Vietnamese culture have surprised and delighted the audience.

The Embassy's active and enthusiastic participation was highly appreciated by the Sri Lankan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Ambassador Trinh Thi Tam affirmed that Vietnam is a close and traditional friend of Sri Lanka.

Through practical activities, Vietnam hopes to join the international community in Sri Lanka in conveying a strong message about a peaceful and stable Sri Lanka and friendly and hospitable Sri Lankan people, thereby helping Sri Lanka increase its attraction of tourists and foreign investment, which is a high priority for the current Sri Lankan government./.
