Tuy Phong Literature and Arts

On the 40-year journey of formation and development of Binh Thuan Literature and Arts Association, Tuy Phong Literature and Arts Association has just completed 20 years of establishment. With the strength of the fields of Literature and Art Photography, it has created a welcome through each work.

Perhaps the climate of Tuy Phong land, which has been the frontier of Binh Thuan province for more than 200 years, has influenced the will, courage, soul and kindness of the people here. I was fortunate to participate in compiling the work Binh Thuan Resistance Literature (Binh Thuan Literature and Arts Association - 2020), through the posthumous work I learned about the late writer and martyr Yen Hy Ba (Le Duy Hien - hometown of Chi Cong) with his talent through memoirs during the resistance war. I was fascinated by the pages of documents when reading the book Phan Ri Cua Geography, published by the Writers' Association in 2015, nearly 600 pages, in the section on Phan Ri Cua's literary, poetic and musical works, there is Phanri Port - an ancient town of Tuy Phong district, which made me surprised and moved. As authors in the appendix of typical works such as Film Writer Pham Thuy Nhan, with very famous films, associated with the sunny - windy - sandy homeland, which is his homeland. With writer Doan Thach Bien, before 1975, he was a person from far away, once taught here but was filled with emotions in many of his literary works...

We cannot forget to mention poet Huynh Huu Vo, from Tuy Phong (deceased), who left behind a series of poems full of love for his homeland before and after 1975. He had two published collections of poetry, but the collection January Wind Blows Like Smoke (1998), which won the B Duc Thanh Prize in 2000, left a very special impression on him. Many of his poems have a musical affinity, with up to 100 songs based on Huynh Huu Vo's poems (collection Holding Hands in the Wind - 2014)... Like To Duy Thach, they have passed away but with their contributions, they have a place in the provincial literary forum, which are the immortal lines of homeland poetry.

With the force of the later writers, the article only mentions the 5-year period of the term of the Binh Thuan Literature and Arts Congress (2018 - 2023), which is also the term of the Tuy Phong Association, only not implemented in the year affected by the Covid-19 epidemic. Up to now, the association still has 20 members, including 8 photography members... In fact, most of them are in their 60s - 80s... but still regularly appear on the pages of literature, poetry on the literary forum, exhibitions of the province and beyond.

Over the past 5 years, Tuy Phong Literature and Arts Association has affirmed a significant part in the province's creative activities. These are works full of contemplation and re-enactment to have 2 very elaborate long story collections, one by Nguyen Phuong (The story of a beggar - August 2019), one by Ho Viet Khue (The fishing village, waves and wind 11/2023). Ho Viet Khue alone quietly set a record with 2 short story collections (The days of wind - 2021 and Warm hands still fragrant - 2022). The poetry collections of authors who have listened to each word are Tran Yen The, Thai Thi Ngan Khang, Duong Hoang Huu, Pham Binh, Nguyen Duy Sinh, To Duy Thach (deceased). Especially with Nguyen Duy Sinh for the second time and won the C prize - Literature - Arts Duc Thanh (poetry collection Mat gio luan hoi), Duong Hoang Huu with the first prize of the Poetry contest of Binh Thuan Literature and Arts magazine. A rare topic and Kinh Duy Trinh - a member, teacher, and textbook translator, has translated 2 volumes of Cham folk tales, from the original ancient Cham text into Vietnamese (B prize - Literature - Arts Duc Thanh 2023).

I believe in my own opinion that the literary creative force of Tuy Phong Association is truly strong, steady, and has a capacity that is hard to age. The language style in the works (novels, short stories) is very unique to each author, always with a subtle, aching empathy for a humane society and humanity. And the poetic works are filled with smoothness, shimmering nostalgia with the bitter-sweet taste of the homeland.

In the field of photography, each photographer must put in a lot of effort and research the subject to have meaningful and artistic perspectives. Currently, the association has 6 members of the Vietnam Photography Association. In the past term, the field of photography continued to achieve many remarkable results. Specifically, the awards of Binh Thuan province: 1 first prize (Homeland Beauty), 1 second prize (Tuy Phong Moss Field). Central awards: 1 national exhibition and 1 exhibition of the General Department of Fine Arts.

Members with works achieving achievements, with Huynh Trong Lan: third prize (Binh Thuan Colors), national exhibition (Going to the fields and taking care of children). With Le Minh Ngoc, there are 2 works exhibited in the Southeast region. Pham Hoai Phuong won 3rd prize for Forest in the Southeast photo festival, GBU international encouragement prize (Eyes) and international exhibition (Motherly love)... Le Nam with his youth and creative energy, has had 6 works exhibited nationally, 23 photos selected to hang in the Southeast regional festival, 1 excellent Heritage prize, 3 prizes for Binh Thuan dragon fruit, 2nd and 3rd prizes for Binh Thuan Colors. Participating in the international competition, Le Nam deserves the title "Golden Lens" with 4 gold medals, 2 silver medals, 4 bronze medals and 10 honorary certificates. The photographic works of members of Tuy Phong Literature and Arts Association will have the opportunity to spread and promote vivid and authentic images of the country and people of Tuy Phong everywhere and internationally.

Tuy Phong Literature and Arts Association also has the same regulation mechanism as the Literature and Arts Associations of districts and towns in the province. The organization system related to investment only exists from the Central to the provinces and large cities, and is managed by specialized fields (Literature, Music, Fine Arts, Photography, Theater, etc.). Therefore, the operating budget of the grassroots association depends on support sources, mainly for local cultural events. Knowing the regulations on state budget management, Tuy Phong Literature and Arts Association has taken advantage of the application of relevant levels and sectors within the permitted limits to maintain its activities. First of all, it must be "the real thing that can uphold the moral" - the real thing here is the persuasion through activities, artistic products, etc. Thanks to that, Tuy Phong Literature and Arts Collection has been released on the occasion of the annual Spring Festival. The criteria of the anthology is to ensure that the content reflects the new face in the development process of the locality, while at the same time, the works of the association members have a piece of literature and vivid artistic images.
