The head of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) warned on March 10 that Gaza risks facing another humanitarian crisis if Israel continues to block aid, stressing that the situation there is deteriorating rapidly.

Israel has cut the flow of food, medicine and fuel aid since early March 2025 to put pressure on the Hamas militant group in ceasefire talks.
On March 9, Tel Aviv also announced a power cut here.
Aid agencies say the move will leave Gazans without clean water.
According to UNRWA Commissioner General Philippe Lazzarini, "the longer the aid blockade continues, the more negative impacts on the population will increase", while affirming that the Gaza Strip is at risk of returning to the severe famine situation of a few months ago.
“Whatever the intention, this is clearly a weaponization of humanitarian aid into Gaza. We can see the situation deteriorating very quickly,” Mr. Lazzarini told a news conference in Geneva.
Commissioner General Lazzarini also described UNRWA's current financial situation as extremely "critical and precarious".
Israel has banned the agency from operating on its territory since January 2025 over alleged links to the Hamas militant group.
Israel's ambassador to the United Nations (UN) said on March 10 that Tel Aviv is actively encouraging other UN agencies and international organizations to take over UNRWA's work in Gaza.
However, Mr. Lazzarini stressed that UNRWA is the target of a disinformation campaign and so far, he has not seen any other organization replacing the agency's role in Gaza.
