At the meeting's conclusion announcement, the Minister of Industry and Trade requested the provincial Party Committee, People's Committees of provinces and cities and relevant agencies and units to speed up the progress of LNG power projects on schedule according to the approved planning.

Developing gas-fired thermal power (both natural and LNG) is an inevitable direction and plays a very important role in ensuring electricity supply for the economy.

For projects that already have investors, localities focus on urging progress and creating favorable conditions for investors to implement the project; promptly resolve or support the resolution of difficulties and problems (especially regarding land, infrastructure, environment, etc.) so as not to affect the project implementation progress; Actively coordinate closely and effectively with investors, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and relevant ministries and branches in the process of investment preparation and project implementation to promptly remove arising problems, ensuring progress and efficiency.

" Resolutely revoke the investment registration certificate if the investor violates regulations or delays project implementation according to investment law to contribute to ensuring energy security in general and electricity supply capacity in particular ," Mr. Nguyen Hong Dien emphasized.

For projects that do not have an investor, the leaders of the Ministry of Industry and Trade requested to urgently prepare a project pre-feasibility study report and implement procedures for granting investment policies, selecting investors with sufficient capacity and experience to implement LNG power plant projects and related infrastructure. Strive to complete in the third quarter of 2023.

" Prepare and submit for approval a feasibility study report for the LNG power project. Strive to complete it in the first quarter of 2024 ", the leader of the Ministry of Industry and Trade gave a specific schedule and requested the selected investors to promptly implement the project according to the schedule, requirements in the investment policy and investment registration certificate approved by the competent authority.

According to the Minister of Industry and Trade, the progress of construction and operation of LNG power plants is decisive to national energy security until 2030, so if any project is at risk of being behind schedule, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will report to the Government and the Prime Minister to delay the progress of that project and push forward backup projects/or calculate other alternative options to ensure safe power supply.

" Assign the Department of Electricity and Renewable Energy to urgently guide, support and assist localities and investors in the implementation process. In particular, promptly conduct project dossier appraisal according to regulations immediately after receiving complete dossiers submitted by investors ," Mr. Nguyen Hong Dien assigned the task.

Attending the meeting on June 24 were representatives of the leaders of the provinces: Quang Ninh, Thai Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan, Long An, Bac Lieu; Deputy Minister Dang Hoang An; Department of Electricity and Renewable Energy; Office of the Ministry of Energy Institute and Vietnam Oil and Gas Power Corporation.
