At the meeting, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee informed about the implementation of energy development according to the Power Plan VII. Up to now, the province has invested and put into commercial operation (COD) 57 projects with power sources (solar power, wind power, hydropower) with a total capacity of 3,749.942 MW. According to the Plans established until 2030: Onshore wind power has the potential to develop more than 1,429 MW; coastal wind power develops about 4,380 MW; offshore wind power 2,000 MW; solar power about 11,211.8 MW; LNG gas power 1,500 MW; pumped storage hydropower 2,400 MW; rooftop solar power 21 MW. With available potential advantages and a very convenient traffic connection with provinces in the region, Ninh Thuan province meets the criteria to form an inter-regional renewable energy service and industrial center.

In order for Ninh Thuan province to have the opportunity to rise up, strongly promote the potential of renewable energy, promote socio-economic development in the last 2 years of the 2020-2025 term and create momentum for development in the 2026-2030 term, bringing Ninh Thuan to develop on par with other provinces in the region in particular and the whole country in general, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee proposed and recommended a number of contents to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, such as: Consider updating concentrated solar power projects in the province to the List of adjustments and supplements to the Plan for implementing the national power development plan for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050. Consider allocating additional capacity of power sources when adjusting the VIII Power Plan. Quickly remove obstacles and difficulties to speed up the progress of projects in the VIII Power Plan. Focus on unifying the policy of "building an inter-regional renewable energy service and industrial center in Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan" located in Ninh Thuan province.
At the meeting, delegates discussed, evaluated and clarified difficulties and obstacles in implementing power development projects and recommended the Ministry of Industry and Trade to remove difficulties to speed up progress, promote the province's energy potential, and contribute to promoting economic development.

Speaking at the meeting, the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade highly appreciated the achievements and efforts to overcome difficulties of Ninh Thuan province in the recent past. At the same time, he suggested that the province do better in propaganda work and effectively implement the policies of the Party and the State. The province needs to proactively review and progress projects to have a basis for submitting to the Government for approval of adjustments and supplements in the Power Plan VIII to ensure compliance with the national plan. He said that Ninh Thuan is a province with potential for pumped storage hydropower and offshore wind power, these are very necessary renewable energy sources, it is necessary to add proposals for the Ministry of Industry and Trade to review and select suitable locations and the province should have good policies to attract investors in these fields. Regarding the Renewable Energy Center, according to the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, it is necessary to build it into a system chain, and have appropriate calculations for businesses to operate effectively to serve the system chain. In addition, the province needs to promptly inform central ministries and branches about the implementation status of projects in the power planning as well as difficulties and obstacles in business investment, thereby having timely solutions.
