Provincial People's Committee holds regular meeting in April

CTTĐT- On the afternoon of April 2, 2025, at the Provincial Party Committee headquarters, the Provincial People's Committee held a regular meeting in April to assess the province's socio-economic development situation in March and the first quarter of 2025; deploy key tasks in April and the second quarter of 2025 along with a number of other important contents.

Comrades Trinh Xuan Truong, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Trong Hai, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Thanh Sinh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee co-chaired the meeting.

Attending the meeting were members of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of departments, branches, sectors and units in the province; leaders of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Provincial Women's Union, Provincial Farmers' Association, Provincial Youth Union, Provincial Labor Federation; leaders of districts, towns and cities.

According to the report at the meeting: The socio-economic situation in Lao Cai province in March and the first quarter of 2025 was basically maintained, with outstanding results in many areas. Accordingly, agricultural production was deployed promptly, ensuring the crop schedule, the whole province is expected to produce 33,395 hectares of rice and 30,800 hectares of corn; Disease prevention for livestock and poultry was effectively implemented, no major epidemics occurred, helping to ensure production safety; disease prevention for livestock and poultry was given attention, livestock herds developed stably; food hygiene and safety in the province was focused on; the new rural construction program was actively responded to by the people.

Industrial production in March faced many difficulties due to the time coinciding with the Tet holiday. However, the industrial production value is estimated at VND 3,503 billion, up 6.5% over the previous month. The accumulated value in the first quarter reached VND 9,568 billion, equal to 15.95% of the yearly plan, down 3.2% over the same period in 2024.

As of February 22, 2025, the total disbursed investment capital value reached VND 1,405 billion, equivalent to 25% of the annual plan, 12% higher than the same period last year.

Commercial activities were bustling in the first quarter of 2025, especially during the Lunar New Year. Total social service revenue in March was estimated at VND 3,859.2 billion, up 4.4% over the previous month. Cumulative revenue in the first quarter reached VND 11,400 billion, reaching 22.8% of the plan, up 7.1% over the same period last year.

In March, Lao Cai welcomed about 986,558 visitors, including 89,869 international visitors. The number of visitors decreased by 20% compared to the previous month due to the post-Tet holiday. In 2025, the total number of visitors reached 3,042,190, equal to 30% of the annual plan, up 50% over the same period in 2024. Revenue from tourists in March reached about 3,361 billion VND, down 19% compared to the previous month, but the cumulative number for the year reached about 10,235 billion VND, equal to 23% of the plan.

Total accumulated local budget revenue by the end of March 2025 is estimated at VND 7,098 billion, equal to 38.1% of the central budget estimate, 31.5% of the provincial budget estimate and 119.3% of the same period last year. Total accumulated local budget expenditure by the end of March 2025 is estimated at VND 6,000 billion, equal to 35.4% of the central budget estimate, 32% of the provincial budget estimate and 100.1% of the same period last year.

The cultural and information fields were well implemented; social security work was given attention; education work was promoted; health care ensured good medical examination and treatment for the people; security, social order and safety were ensured; foreign relations were maintained; government building and administrative reform achieved many good results.

At the meeting, delegates discussed many important issues, proposing solutions to implement tasks on promoting disbursement of capital for basic construction investment, industrial production activities, national target programs in the province, projects on health, education, etc.

Concluding the meeting, comrade Trinh Xuan Truong, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized: In order to achieve the goals set for the second quarter, all levels, sectors, units and localities need to be determined, take action and remove remaining difficulties and obstacles. In particular, focusing on the contents of Party work, streamlining the apparatus, implementing according to Resolution 18 and improving political and ideological work. In addition, it is necessary to have consensus and close coordination between agencies to complete the projects of merging provinces and districts, and at the same time listen to people's opinions.
