The pass is located at an altitude of over 1,000m, so the climate is often cool and cloudy. According to locals, the name Sa Mu comes from the clouds that often hang down halfway up the pass.
In March, the weather has passed the cold of winter and the harsh heat of the Lao wind has not yet arrived, all kinds of flowers on the top of Sa Mu pass compete in color.

Interspersed among the fields of mua flowers are pure white petals of silver and an tức flowers. The petals are as small as a finger, with a sweet fragrance that attracts bees and butterflies to come looking for nectar.
Looking further, this is also the season of chestnut flowers in the middle of the primeval forest. Ancient chestnut trees rise above the forest canopy, blooming with opaque white-yellow flowers. Chestnut flowers are also fragrant, but the smell is stronger, so it is somewhat unpleasant for those who have not yet adapted.
The above flowers are all wild flowers, growing naturally.
