Foreign language program in grade 1
Primary schools organize first grade foreign language programs in English, French, and Chinese according to the 2018 General Education Program.
Enrollment in grade 1 of the integrated math, science and English teaching and learning program according to Decision No. 5695 of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee at schools that ensure teaching and learning conditions according to the primary enrollment plan of Thu Duc City and districts.
Grade 6 with intensive foreign language programs
Secondary schools in Thu Duc City and districts organize English enhancement programs according to local enrollment plans.
The Chinese language enhancement program is held at the following secondary schools: Tran Boi Co, Mach Kiem Hung (District 5); Pham Dinh Ho (District 6); Hau Giang (District 11).
French 6th class (first foreign language) is held at the following secondary schools: Tran Van On (District 1), Colette Secondary School (District 3), Hong Bang Secondary School (District 5); Chanh Hung Secondary School (District 8); Ngo Si Lien Secondary School (Tan Binh District).
Participation conditions: Grade 5 students who have completed the primary school program and have a final periodic test score of 8 points or higher in each subject of Vietnamese and math in grade 5 and have an average score of 6 points or higher in French and math in French will be transferred directly to the 6th grade classes with enhanced French and in French. Students with an average score of less than 6 points in French can study according to the current foreign language program (students must take a foreign language proficiency test and meet the entrance knowledge standards of the current grade 6 program).
Japanese language students at Le Quy Don Secondary School (District 3)
Japanese Class 6 (Foreign Language 1) is held at Le Quy Don Secondary School, Hai Ba Trung (District 3); Vo Truong Toan Secondary School (District 1).
The admission condition is that after being selected to study in grade 6 at the above schools, if students wish to, they will register to study at the school. The school's admission goal is to ensure the quota and number of students according to regulations as top priority.
Class 6 Chinese (second foreign language) is held at Minh Duc Secondary School (District 1); Pham Ngoc Thach Secondary School (Tan Binh District).
The admission requirement is that students must have been admitted to the above schools and wish to study Chinese (second foreign language). The school's admission criteria are to ensure the required quota and number of students as top priority.
Grade 6 integrated teaching and learning program of math, science and English is implemented at schools that ensure teaching and learning conditions according to the primary enrollment plan of Thu Duc City People's Committee, districts and towns.
Grade 10 diverse enrichment program
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training encourages high schools with adequate teachers and facilities to open 10th grade classes with enhanced English.
Enrollment in grade 10 with enhanced English is carried out among students who have been admitted to grade 10 of the school and must meet the requirements for enrollment in grade 10 with enhanced English.
Grade 10 Chinese enhancement classes are held at Hung Vuong, Tran Khai Nguyen, Tran Quang Khai, and Nam Ky Khoi Nghia high schools.
Enrollment in the 10th grade of Chinese language enhancement is carried out among students who have been admitted to the school's 10th grade with scores of each skill of the entire 9th grade of Chinese language enhancement reaching 6 points or higher or have a HSK certificate of level 3 or higher.
Grade 9 students review for grade 10 entrance exam
Japanese Class 10 (Foreign Language 1) held at Le Quy Don, Trung Vuong, and Marie Curie High Schools.
Students who want to participate in the Japanese program (first foreign language) must meet the following conditions: Register for grade 10 at a school that teaches Japanese (first foreign language) and register for the foreign language exam for grade 10 admission in Japanese. Pass grade 10 at a school that teaches Japanese (first foreign language) and have a Japanese test score of 5.0 or higher.
Candidates who do not pass the 10th grade Japanese (foreign language 1) exam can still be considered for 10th grade according to their registered wishes.
Grade 10 bilingual French program held at Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School, Marie Curie.
Grade 10 program teaches and learns integrated math, science and English. Based on reality, the Department of Education and Training annually publicly announces high schools that teach integrated English programs.
Admission requirements are that students must have graduated from junior high school and meet the requirements of one of the following two groups.
Group 1: Students participating in the integrated English program at secondary school level in Ho Chi Minh City must meet the following conditions:
- Students participating in the 10th grade entrance exam
- Students can register 3 wishes to take the entrance exam to grade 10 of high schools that teach integrated English programs.
- Based on the 10th grade entrance exam scores and the average score of the integrated English program, these students will be given priority in schools that teach the integrated English program.
- The method for calculating admission scores for the integrated English program is as follows:
* Admission score = literature score + foreign language score + math score + average score of integrated English program (on a 10-point scale).
- Only consider candidates who are eligible to take the entrance exam, have taken all required exams, have not violated exam regulations during the entrance exam, and have not scored 0 (zero) on any exam.
Group 2 : Students who do not participate in the integrated English program must meet the following conditions:
- Graduated from high school with good or above.
- Students must take the 10th grade entrance exam. In addition to the three required subjects of literature, math, and foreign language, students must register and take the integrated subject exam.
- Students can register for 3 wishes to take the entrance exam to grade 10 at schools that teach integrated English programs.
- The calculation of admission scores for the integrated English program is as follows:
* Admission score = literature score + foreign language score + math score + integrated subject exam score (on a 10-point scale).
Only candidates who are eligible to take the entrance exam, have taken all required exams, have not violated exam regulations in the 10th grade entrance exam, and have not scored 0 on any exam will be considered for admission.
