Commending 143 outstanding and exemplary ethnic minority students and youth in 2023

(Chinhphu.vn) – On the evening of December 26, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang attended and shared joy with 143 ethnic minority students and youth from 51 ethnic groups in 50 localities who were commended for their outstanding achievements in 2023.

Also attending the ceremony were Minister, Chairman of the Ethnic Committee Hau A Lenh; Chairman of the National Assembly's Ethnic Council Y Thanh Ha Nie K'dam; Chairwoman of the Vietnam Women's Union Ha Thi Nga; leaders of a number of central departments, ministries and branches. Among the students honored, 30 were admitted or directly admitted to universities and academies, achieving a score of 28 points or higher in the combination of three subjects for university admission, excluding priority points. There were 38 students who won first, second and third prizes in the national excellent student competition for the 2022-2023 school year; 4 students won first, second and third prizes in the national science and technology competition for the 2022-2023 school year; 2 students won medals in national sports competitions . The list of honorees also includes 29 outstanding young people in various fields; 9 ethnic minority students from ethnic groups with special difficulties according to Decision No. 1227/QD-TTg dated July 14, 2021 of the Prime Minister were admitted to university. Localities introduced and proposed 31 ethnic minority students with excellent achievements. 2023 is the 10th year that the Ethnic Committee has presided over and coordinated with the Ministry of Education and Training and the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union to organize the Commendation Ceremony for outstanding and exemplary ethnic minority students, students and youth. Over the past 10 years, 1,317 ethnic minority students, students and youth have been commended. Within the framework of this year's Commendation Ceremony, the students also participated in a number of meaningful traditional educational activities such as the Ceremony to report their achievements to Uncle Ho, visit the Presidential Palace relic site; and register in the golden book at the Temple of Literature.

Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the Government and Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang sent his warmest regards and best wishes to teachers, parents, students and young people. The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that the Party and State pay special attention to and invest in socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas; have issued many strategic policies and guidelines to promote the development of this area, including education and training. With the attention and investment of the Party and State, the care of families and the community, the dedication and responsibility of teachers and the efforts of the students themselves, the Deputy Prime Minister assessed that the education and training work in ethnic minority areas has achieved important achievements, in which the network and scale of schools at all levels from preschool to high school in ethnic minority and mountainous areas have been consolidated and developed. The infrastructure has been invested in more and more spacious; The specialized education system is increasingly developing in scale, improving quality, meeting the needs of human resource training for ethnic minority and mountainous areas. The Deputy Prime Minister highly appreciated the efforts of the Ethnic Committee in chairing and coordinating with the Ministry of Education and Training, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union to solemnly organize the commendation ceremonies. After 10 commendation ceremonies, the achievements of the students each year are always higher than the previous years, both in quantity and quality. Notably, there are more and more students winning high prizes in national excellent student competitions, national and regional science and technology, culture, art, and sports competitions. The number of outstanding and typical ethnic minority youth in the fields of labor production, leading the movements to build and protect the Fatherland is also increasing. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the students honored today are truly beautiful flowers, the pride of their families and villages, and convincing evidence for the development of ethnic education. The Deputy Prime Minister advised that the achievements are only initial results, so students should not be satisfied or content, but should continue to make efforts, strive, improve their knowledge, skills, practice, and cultivate morality to contribute to the construction of their homeland and country; promote sustainable development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas./.
