On June 25, the People's Committee of Truong Yen commune (Hoa Lu) held the summer opening ceremony, Children's Olympic Day, launched a campaign to encourage people to practice swimming, prevent drowning, and honor outstanding athletes in 2023.
Truong Yen is a locality with a strong mass sports movement with many sports that people love to practice such as: Walking, cycling, badminton, table tennis, karate, aerobics, etc.
Notably, at the recent 32nd SEA Games, the commune had 2 athletes competing for the national team in karate and swimming and achieved high results: Giang Viet Anh (Gold Medal in Team Kata), Nguyen Thuy Hien (Bronze Medal in Swimming).
Truong Yen is also a locality with many rivers, lakes and ponds, which pose a risk of drowning. Therefore, the commune has paid attention to swimming training and drowning prevention for students, especially during the summer vacation. At the ceremony, witnessed by nearly 300 primary school students and local people, the leaders of the commune People's Committee launched a campaign for the whole population to practice swimming and prevent drowning; awarded and honored two athletes Giang Viet Anh and Nguyen Thuy Hien for their outstanding achievements.
The ceremony was held to encourage and motivate people of all walks of life to actively participate in sports activities, contributing to improving health; responding to summer activities of union members, youth, students and the campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho".
