The University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City) has just announced that it will not hold the opening ceremony of the 2024-2025 school year to use funds to support people in flood-affected areas.
According to school leaders, all organizational work for this year's opening ceremony has been carefully prepared and is almost complete.
However, in recent days, storm No. 3 (typhoon Yagi) and subsequent floods have caused serious damage to people and property in the northern provinces. In the spirit of sharing, the school has decided not to hold the opening ceremony for the 2024-2025 school year on the morning of September 27 as scheduled.

The school will use the opening ceremony budget of 100 million VND to support flood victims in the North.
In addition, the school also mobilized staff, workers and students to contribute to support people in the northern provinces to overcome the consequences of natural disasters.
In particular, activities to welcome new students within the framework of the opening ceremony such as interactive space with businesses, rewards, scholarship awards, and skill sharing activities for students will still take place as planned.
Although we know that the opening ceremony is always a special occasion in the hearts of every new student, the school believes that this year's opening ceremony is truly meaningful and the most important thing at this time is the tradition of solidarity and mutual love.
It is known that previously, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Ho Chi Minh City National University) sent invitations to the opening ceremony to guests and delegates.
On September 12, during the opening ceremony of the 2024-2025 school year, Ho Chi Minh City University of Culture organized a donation to support people in the North to overcome the consequences of storm No. 3.
During the ceremony, delegates, lecturers and many students joined hands to contribute and share difficulties with people in areas affected by natural disasters.
In recent days, many universities in Ho Chi Minh City such as Ho Chi Minh City University of Law, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade... have also launched fundraising campaigns to support flood victims in the northern provinces suffering from the consequences of storm No. 3.
