New revenue increase sharply

Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education has just announced the tuition fees for the 2023-2024 academic year. Specifically, the regular university mass program applied to students of the 2022 class and earlier has a tuition fee of 11,750,000 VND to 14,250,000 VND/semester.

According to the unit price of credits, tuition fees are calculated from 712,000 to 827,000 VND/credit. Thus, calculated by school year, the tuition fee is equal to the previously announced expected fee, from 23.5-28.5 million VND/year depending on the major. Compared to the actual tuition fee collected by the school in the previous school year, which was a maximum of 19.5 million VND, the new fee this year has increased sharply.

For students of the 2023 class, the school applies a fee of 13-16,250,000 VND/semester; equivalent to 773,000-944,000 VND/credit. Tuition fees per academic year will be from 26 to 32.5 million VND/student depending on the major.

Specific tuition fees for the mass program are as follows:

Dr. Quach Thanh Hai, Head of Training Department of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education, said that this is a notice of temporary tuition collection for the school year issued based on the technical economic norms in university training for this school year.

The school is still waiting for official guidance on tuition fees for the new school year from the Government and the Ministry of Education and Training to adjust accordingly. "However, if the official tuition fee is equal to the level in the draft Decree amending and supplementing a number of articles of Decree 81 of 2021 proposed by the Ministry of Education and Training for the 2023-2024 school year, the school does not need to adjust because this provisional fee is currently lower," said Mr. Hai.

Some notable adjustments

Also in the tuition fee announcement, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education applies a number of new policies from this school year.

Specifically, the tuition fee for the high-quality program applied to students admitted in 2023 will not be committed to remain stable throughout the entire course as in previous courses. Tuition fees for this school year will range from 20.8 to 26.1 million VND/semester (equivalent to 41.6-52.2 million VND/school year).

Previously, for students from the 2022 class and earlier, the tuition fee for the high-quality program was committed to remain unchanged throughout the entire course. Accordingly, the tuition fee was from 14-17.5 million VND/semester depending on the program, major and enrollment period (equivalent to 28-35 million VND/year).

Tuition fees for the high quality program are as follows:

In addition, the school adjusts the tuition fees for retakes, remedial courses, extended courses, extra-curricular courses, and second-year courses to the same level as the first-time tuition fees. This adjustment applies to students of all courses.

However, online tuition and English tuition differ between academic years. For courses from 2022 onwards, online classes are 10% off, and cases of converting foreign language certificates are 50% off.

For the 2023 class, the school will not charge additional tuition fees for the first time for courses outside the main curriculum such as physical education, national defense and security education. However, the school will not reduce tuition fees for online classes. In particular, the school will not exempt or reduce tuition fees for cases of converting foreign language certificates. With this regulation, students with foreign language certificates converted to output standards who do not participate in foreign language courses organized by the school must still pay tuition fees.
