Báo Đại Đoàn KếtBáo Đại Đoàn Kết05/01/2025

Currently, the medical and pharmaceutical groups have the highest tuition fees according to Government regulations, especially in the two majors of Medicine and Dentistry.

In the 2024-2025 school year, tuition fees for health majors will increase compared to the previous year, depending on the specific major.

According to the enrollment plan, for the 2024-2025 school year, the tuition fees of Hanoi Medical University range from 15 to 55.2 million VND/school year depending on the major. The majors with the highest tuition fees of 55.2 million VND/school year are: Medicine, Thanh Hoa branch of Medicine, Traditional Medicine, Dentistry.

Among the 17 training majors of the school, the major with the lowest tuition fee is also one of the 3 new majors enrolling students this year, Psychology, with a tuition fee of 15 million VND/school year.

Some public universities that train in health sciences have the highest tuition fees today, such as: Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, with 2 medical training majors with tuition fees of over 80 million VND/year. Specifically, the Dentistry major charges 84.7 million VND/year and the Medicine major charges 82.2 million VND/year.

The University of Health Sciences (Ho Chi Minh City National University) has a tuition fee of 60 million VND/year for Medicine and 55.2 million VND/year for other medical training majors.

Vietnam Academy of Traditional Medicine, School of Medicine and Pharmacy (University of Danang) has a low tuition fee of 27.6 million VND for the 2024-2025 school year.

This level is equal to the tuition ceiling set by the Government for the Medical and Pharmaceutical sector at non-autonomous public universities.

The 2024-2025 school year is the second year that universities apply tuition fees according to Decree 97 of the Government regulating the mechanism for collecting and managing tuition fees.

Accordingly, in the 2024-2025 school year, tuition fees will continue to increase as scheduled. For non-autonomous universities, the lowest tuition fee is in the Arts sector at 13.5 million VND/year (an increase of 1.5 million VND compared to the previous school year). The Medicine and Pharmacy sector has the strongest increase of about 3.1 million VND; up to 27.6 million VND.

Currently, the medical and pharmaceutical groups have the highest tuition fees according to Government regulations, especially in the two majors of Medicine and Dentistry.

University tuition fees for students entering the class of 2025 will continue to increase. The increase for public universities is in line with the Government's decree.

The ceiling on university tuition fees for each major according to the new regulations is as follows:

forever

According to experts, the high tuition fees, combined with the long time it takes to study medicine. It takes about 8-9 years from entering school to being able to practice. This is a barrier for many students who want to pursue this field.

Faced with this reality, the Ministry of Health has just proposed that the Government study tuition and living expenses support for medical students equivalent to those in the education sector. Prof. Dr. Phan Tuy - former Vice President of Hanoi University of Pharmacy, Head of the Faculty of Pharmacy of Hoa Binh University, assessed that the proposal of the Ministry of Health is humane in order to attract medical and pharmaceutical students.

From the perspective of a trainer, Associate Professor Dr. Phan Tuy believes that if the medical profession or the pedagogical profession trains in large numbers without paying attention to quality, it is a potential danger. Therefore, Associate Professor Dr. Phan Tuy believes that investment in medical and pharmaceutical training is necessary to partly reduce the shortage of medical human resources.

Although the proposal to exempt tuition fees for medical students aims to attract students in the context of a shortage of human resources in the medical sector, some experts believe that it will not be feasible because the investment budget for education is still limited. Instead of exempting tuition fees, it is better to consider a scholarship policy for students from difficult circumstances.
