Hanoi Medical University has a female Chairman of the Board

On April 3, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan presented the decision to recognize the Chairman of the Council of Hanoi Medical University for the 2020-2025 term to Associate Professor, Dr. Phan Thi Thu Huong, former Director of the Department of HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control (Ministry of Health).

Associate Professor Phan Thi Thu Huong is the second President of the Hanoi Medical University Council, succeeding Professor Ta Thanh Van, the first President of the Hanoi Medical University Council. Professor Van continues to work and is the Head of the Department of Biochemistry at Hanoi Medical University.

Ms. Phan Thi Thu Huong graduated from Hanoi Medical University (1995); Master's degree from Libre de Bruxelles University, Belgium (2004) and PhD from the University of Public Health (2013). In 2017, she was recognized as an associate professor. With more than 30 years of experience in the medical field, Ms. Huong has made many important contributions to improving Vietnam's position in HIV/AIDS prevention and control.

At the ceremony, Minister Dao Hong Lan congratulated Ms. Phan Thi Thu Huong on being appointed and recognized as Chairwoman of the Board of the Hanoi Medical University by the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Health and the University Council.

On behalf of the Ministry of Health, the Minister of Health expressed his gratitude to Professor Ta Thanh Van - who has been associated with the school for more than 40 years, from being a student, resident doctor, lecturer to management positions. Professor Van has made many contributions and left his mark on the development of the school.

Minister Dao Hong Lan noted that one of the tasks of Hanoi Medical University is to develop the school into a national key university with capacity and prestige in training, research, medical examination and treatment services, leading in the network of university education institutions in the health sector, achieving top quality in Asia.

At the same time, ensure training to improve the quality of medical staff, contributing to improving public health and taking care of people's health.

In her acceptance speech, Associate Professor Phan Thi Thu Huong promised to make efforts, with the highest sense of responsibility and enthusiasm, to work with the collective to further develop Hanoi Medical University.

Thus, in addition to the President of the University Council Phan Thi Thu Huong, Hanoi Medical University has a Board of Directors including President Nguyen Huu Tu and 4 Vice Presidents: Associate Professor, Dr. Kim Bao Giang; Associate Professor, Dr. Ho Thi Kim Thanh; Associate Professor, Dr. Le Dinh Tung; Dr. Pham Xuan Thang.
