VFF announces Vietnam national team list online
Mr. Philippe Troussier did not directly attend the announcement of the shortlist (including 28 players) of the Vietnamese team because the program took place at the same time as the Vietnamese team practiced this afternoon (March 18).
This is the second time the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has decided to announce the team list via livestream instead of just posting an announcement. Around the world, many football federations choose to announce the national team list before major tournaments online, typically Brazil.
The list of Vietnam team was announced online.
The livestream will start at 7:30 p.m. VFF will broadcast live on familiar platforms such as Facebook, Youtube and Tiktok. VFF hopes that the players and their families will be inspired and encouraged before important matches.
According to the script, the host will be commentator Ba Phu. Chairman of the National Coaching Council - Mr. Nguyen Sy Hien, commentator Quang Huy and journalist Truong Anh Ngoc are the guests.
Coach Troussier will eliminate 5 players and bring 28 players to Indonesia, but only 23 players will be included in the registered list. The decision to eliminate the last 5 players will only be made by Mr. Troussier close to the registration time, depending on tactical options.
Up to this point, the Vietnamese team has only one injured player, Nguyen Cong Phuong. According to VTC News, the injury of the star born in 1995 is not serious. He is fit enough to play in both matches of the Vietnamese team. Coach Troussier has no intention of dropping his student, unless Cong Phuong's injury progresses worse than expected.
The Vietnamese team had a difficult away match at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium. Five days later, the Vietnamese team returned and welcomed the Indonesian team at My Dinh Stadium.
The Vietnamese team's goal is to get at least 1 point away from home. Captain Do Hung Dung said he and his teammates want to win at home and aim to pass the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup.
