Ms. Nhu's journey to mushroom growing began with learning about mushrooms through social networks, the internet, and visiting and learning from mushroom farms in the southwestern provinces. After a period of careful research, she decided to invest nearly 200 million VND to build a closed mushroom growing model on an area of 50 square meters, with 5,000 spawns on her family's land.
Ms. Nhu said that she used to be an office worker, but with a passion for business and a desire to create her own path, she decided to quit her job to focus on the termite mushroom growing model. To ensure an optimal mushroom growing environment, she invested in building a closed mushroom house system with full modern equipment, from mesh covers, racks, hanging wires to cooling systems and especially misting irrigation.
automatically, all are carefully calculated to maintain a stable temperature of 26 - 280C. During hot weather, she adds water with a spray bottle because the humidifier is still a bit dry, so the mushrooms always grow in ideal conditions, achieving high productivity and stable quality.
“I import black termite mushroom spawn from reputable units in the Southwest region. From planting to harvest takes about 1.5 months, a mushroom season lasts 4 months. Black termite mushrooms grow singly, and mature enough plants will be picked first, ensuring timely harvest to achieve the highest quality. The qualified mushrooms are classified and stored in refrigerators, then transported to restaurants in Binh Duong, Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces and cities. On average, I harvest over 10kg of mushrooms per day, with prices ranging from 170,000 - 220,000 VND/kg. The highest mushroom yield is concentrated in the first harvest of the year and lasts more than half a month,” Ms. Nhu shared.
According to Ms. Nhu, black termite mushrooms have high nutritional value, sweet and crunchy taste, can be processed into many delicious dishes, so they are favored by customers. Currently, she has signed a consumption contract with a large restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City to ensure stable output. The current black termite mushroom consumption market has great potential, especially since this is an organic product line, does not use chemicals, so it ensures the health and safety of consumers. To expand the scale, she is investing in a new mushroom farm to increase output and ensure quality to meet market demand.
With her dynamism, boldness and determination to pursue her passion, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thao Nhu not only succeeded with the organic black termite mushroom growing model, developing the family economy but also opened up a new promising direction, contributing to diversifying the local economic model.
Ms. Tran Thi Thuy Duyen, Vice President of the Women's Union of Long Nguyen Commune, Bau Bang District, said that although Ms. Nguyen Thi Thao Nhu's organic black termite mushroom growing model is new, it brings high economic efficiency and stable output. In the coming time, the Women's Union of the commune will encourage members and people with conditions to replicate this model, helping women develop their family economy, contributing to the supply of clean and safe agricultural products to consumers. |
