The event is expected to bring an emotional experience with the melodies of youth.

Memories of vibrant student days
The 90s of the last century was the period when international music penetrated and exploded in the cultural and entertainment life of Vietnamese youth, with music groups: The Beatles, Queen, ABBA, Smokie, Bee Gees, Boney M, Pink Floyd, Dire Straits, Deep Purple, Metallica... Along with music, the lifestyle and fashion style of famous singers and bands of that period became popular cultural icons, bringing many positive influences to Vietnamese students.
During this period, the movement of organizing student balls became more and more vibrant, especially in the capital Hanoi. Student balls continuously took place in the schoolyards of major universities such as the University of General Sciences, the University of Construction, the University of Foreign Languages, the University of Technology..., attracting the participation of tens of thousands of students and becoming the most popular cultural, artistic and entertainment activity for young people of the 60s and 70s at that time.
Recalling the vibrant music era, designer Anh Thu shared that around the 90s, when she was still a student at Hanoi Foreign Language Pedagogy University, the Student Gala movement became the biggest "spiritual food" for young people at that time.
“Every era has its own unique style of “following idols”. In our time, just having a guitar and singing international songs was very… cool. Student proms were actually a place for students from different schools with similar interests in music to interact and have fun. Music was what connected us all. Later, the student movement became more active in many areas such as modeling, fashion, and student proms had additional fashion shows” - Ms. Anh Thu said.
According to Tran Thanh Tung (Tung John), a former student of the University of General Sciences (now the University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi), because of his love for The Beatles' music, he and his friends (including MC Long Vu and Anh Tuan) founded the band Desire, participating in singing in the student art movement for many years. During his passionate youth, The Beatles' immortal songs such as "Yesterday", "Hey Jude", "I want you", "And I love her"... became an endless passion for him and his friends of the same age.
Music holds memories
The singers and student bands of that time are now in their 50s and 60s and have their own careers but still have a great love for music. Therefore, when the program "Capital Alumni Gala" was held for the first time in 2022, it became an unforgettable concert for many people when beautiful memories of their vibrant youth came flooding back.
This year, "Capital Alumni Gala" season 2 continues to recreate the vibrant, explosive atmosphere at university campuses, gymnasiums, stadiums, dormitories... in the past.
The program will take place at the University of Natural Sciences (Vietnam National University, 19 Le Thanh Tong, Hanoi) with the participation of more than 100 artists - former students of the capital such as musician Quoc Trung and the band Phuong Dong, musician Thanh Phuong and the band The Time, the band Wild Horse, the group ABBA Vietnam; the joint dance group Big Toe - CO - ZigZag; MC Thao Van, MC Dinh Tien Dung, singers Thanh Lam, Thanh Tam, Thuy Dung, Dinh Lan Huong, Tung John, Long Vu, Ngo Viet Khoi, Le Tien Dat, Lien Trinh...
In addition, this band reunion has the participation of many Gen Z members, bringing fresh energy, inspiring many young people who love the nostalgic style.
In addition to musical performances, the program also featured the participation of designer Anh Thu (Ao Dai brand Ngan An) and a special performance by a group of Misses, Runners-up, and models of the 7x generation such as model, actress Hoang Xuan, Runner-up Hanoi - Bang Giang, Runner-up Hanoi - Thu Hang, supermodel Giang Cindy, supermodel Hai Yen...
Participating in the Capital Alumni Gala this year, musician Quoc Trung - leader of the Phuong Dong band, one of the biggest bands in the country in the early 90s of the last century, excitedly said that the time he and many of his colleagues spent in music as students was the premise for each person's future musical career.
In the program, he and singer Thanh Lam will reunite to perform as they did when they were active in the Phuong Dong band. MC Long Vu said that the older people get, the more nostalgic they are about the past, especially about the good and happy things. The student gala will help everyone return to the vibrant and romantic days, singing songs from the past together. His band will sing songs by The Beatles and many other songs.
Ms. Nguyen My Trang, Deputy General Director of My Thanh Company, member of the Organizing Committee, said that this year's program will continue to be a musical party that brings back the brilliant memories of youth, but will be inherited by the new generation. The desire of the organizers is to continue to pass on the passion of youth, spreading artistic creativity to generations of music lovers.
