Held annually, the International Tourism Fair in Hanoi - VITM Hanoi is one of the biggest events of the year for the Vietnamese tourism industry. This is also an opportunity for Hanoi - the country's major tourism center - to clearly demonstrate its role as a "locomotive" with trendy, quality products.

According to the Hanoi Tourism Promotion Center (Hanoi Department of Tourism), the Hanoi tourism booth has the theme "Hanoi - Heritage Destination", introducing heritage destinations such as: Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam, Hoa Lo Prison, Bat Trang ceramic village, Van Phuc silk village... In addition, Hanoi also has activities to demonstrate craft villages, introduce cuisine , and West Lake lotus tea.

Deputy Director in charge of Hanoi Tourism Promotion Center Nguyen Huu Viet said that the introduction and exhibition space of Hanoi Department of Tourism will be imbued with cultural and heritage colors with the common symbol being Khue Van Cac. The unit will use LED screens to display images of Hanoi Capital.

In addition, to promote the image of “Hanoi - Come to love”, the unit also arranged miniature scenes for tourists to check-in, introduce publications and gifts of Hanoi. On this occasion, the Hanoi Department of Tourism also organized the Hanoi Tourism Gift Festival (from April 11 to 13) to enhance the experience for tourists.

In preparation for VITM Hanoi 2025, Hanoi Tourism Corporation has a 90m2 booth with the participation of many affiliated units. In particular, Hanoitourist Travel Company and Thang Long GTC Company introduce many attractive domestic and foreign tourism products, especially waterway tourism routes to explore Hanoi's heritage along the Red River.

Meanwhile, the Hanoi Travel Association (HATA) has booths introducing tourism products of travel agencies. Vice President and General Secretary of the Hanoi Travel Association Pham Duy Nghia said that the booths will introduce tourism products during the April 30 and May 1 holidays along with summer tourism. The unit will promote connection activities to increase the strength of the capital's travel agencies.

Responding to green tourism

This year, VITM Hanoi 2025 continues to focus on the theme "Developing green destinations, elevating Vietnam tourism", aiming to spread the goal of developing Vietnam tourism towards green and sustainable growth.

Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association Vu The Binh said that Vietnam tourism always aims for sustainable development, focusing on green tourism, environmental protection, ecology, and respect for local culture. “VITM Hanoi 2025 emphasizes the green development factor to affirm that it is a strategic, long-term development of Vietnam tourism, enhancing the responsibility of tourism businesses to the community, and at the same time building trend-setting products,” Mr. Vu The Binh shared.

In Hanoi, green and sustainable tourism has been and is being focused on. Director of Hanoi Department of Tourism Dang Huong Giang said that Hanoi always pays attention to developing green tourism, reducing plastic waste, protecting the ecological environment and community culture. Many green and sustainable tourism products have been built recently such as: "Indochinese Architecture in the Heart of Hanoi" walking tour, cycling tour, electric car tour to explore the old town...

At VITM Hanoi 2025, the Hanoi Department of Tourism will coordinate with famtrip organizers to introduce a waterway tourism route on the Red River, exploring the Hong Van ornamental plant village (Thuong Tin district). This is one of the successful tourism models in the direction of green tourism, preserving the landscape, environment and ecology.

On this occasion, many travel agencies in Hanoi will have a strong action program in response to “developing green tourism”. The Hanoi Travel Association will call on the business community to build products that promote sustainable values, reduce plastic waste in tourism activities; and maintain environmental hygiene on the routes.

VITM Hanoi 2025 opens up many great opportunities for the Vietnamese tourism business community in joint ventures, associations, and cooperation to increase the competitiveness of Vietnamese tourism. Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) Pham Van Thuy commented that with the Government's visa exemption policy in recent times, along with major promotional and stimulus activities, including VITM Hanoi 2025, Vietnamese tourism can expect to achieve new achievements, completing the goal of welcoming 23 million international visitors this year.

Need the cooperation of the tourism community

VITM Hanoi 2025 has 450 booths, attracting the participation of 60 domestic and foreign tourism promotion agencies, 8 airlines, 16 countries and territories and more than 600 businesses. Visitors will be able to participate in promotional programs at the Fair such as tours, air tickets, hotel rooms, local OCOP products; experience booths introducing technology, AI applications, robots in the fields of travel, hotels and tourism services...

This year, VITM Hanoi continues to focus on the theme of green tourism to spread the goal of developing Vietnam tourism towards green and sustainable growth. The Organizing Committee will announce and introduce typical green destinations of Vietnam, attractive and diverse green tourism products. This is to raise awareness and cooperation of the tourism business community in developing sustainable tourism.

Tourism development associated with promoting cultural values

For many years, Hanoi tourism has always promoted the development of green and sustainable tourism. Since 2019, Hanoi has implemented a smoke-free tourism model at historical sites and typical tourist streets, such as: Ngoc Son Temple, Ba Kieu Temple, Quan Su Pagoda, Ba Da Pagoda; Vietnam History Museum, Revolutionary Museum, Cathedral, Hoa Lo Prison... There are no smoking signs here and visitors will be reminded and fined directly if they smoke at these tourist spots.

The implementation of green tourism is also reflected in tourism products built on the basis of preserving and promoting cultural values, local communities, environment, landscapes and ecology. Many recent tourism products of Hanoi are built on this spirit. Therefore, the Fair is an opportunity for the city to affirm its pioneering role and set an example in implementing the strategies of Vietnam tourism in general.

Strengthening propaganda to partners and tourists

Developing green and sustainable tourism is a common action program of the entire tourism industry. Hanoi, as a major tourism center of the country, will need to demonstrate its pioneering role. Coming to VITM Hanoi 2025 this time, the Hanoi Travel Association has prepared many products to introduce to the public. In addition to the product series targeting April 30, May 1 and summer tourism, we will focus on promoting Hanoi tourism with the consistent spirit of "Hanoi - Come to love".

In addition, Hanoi travel agencies participating in the fair will increase propaganda to partners and tourists about the responsibility to join hands to protect a safe, healthy and sustainable tourism environment such as: Limiting the use of plastic products, nylon bags, maintaining environmental hygiene... I think that, in order for Vietnam tourism to develop sustainably and effectively, it is necessary to have a systematic strategy for planning, building and developing tourism in each locality; the joint efforts of the tourism business community...
