The exhibition on Nguyen Hue Street with the theme "Vietnam People's Army - Proud of 80 years of building, fighting and growing" includes 80 images summarizing the formation process of the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army (the predecessor of today's Vietnam People's Army) under the leadership of our Party and President Ho Chi Minh, bravely fighting and growing, achieving many glorious feats; especially the August 1945 General Uprising, the Dien Bien Phu victory "resounding throughout the five continents, shaking the earth", gradually defeating the US war strategies and ending with the great victory of the Spring of 1975, completely liberating the South, unifying the country.
80 years of steadfastly marching under the Military Flag, our Army has gradually affirmed its revolutionary mettle, maintained its steadfast faith in the Party and the nation, turned difficulties and challenges into motivation, determined to build a revolutionary, disciplined, elite, and gradually modern Vietnam People's Army; strive to build a "refined, compact, and strong" Army by 2025 and a "revolutionary, disciplined, elite, and modern" Army by 2030 to firmly protect the integrity of the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland.
On Dong Khoi Street, 70 photos with the theme "Ho Chi Minh City builds a strong national defense", with the content showing the achievements of Ho Chi Minh City in building a strong national defense combined with strong people's security; raising the spirit of vigilance, readiness to fight, ensuring national defense - security, maintaining political security - social order and safety, protecting the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland; actively implementing policy work, mass mobilization, building a solid "people's heart position"; performing the tasks of natural disaster - epidemic prevention, search and rescue, and rescue; hunger eradication and poverty reduction, environmental protection, actively leading the city's armed forces.
At the location opposite Chi Lang Park, 50 photos with the theme "Island is home, sea is homeland" are displayed, introducing the beauty of Vietnam's seas and islands, the efforts to overcome difficulties of officers and soldiers who are at the forefront, still determined to protect the sovereignty of the seas and islands of the homeland. In particular, it reflects the deep concern of leaders, departments, branches, organizations and people of Ho Chi Minh City who always turn to the beloved seas and islands with practical actions, demonstrating the responsibility of the rear to the frontline in the cause of fighting and protecting the Fatherland.
Summary of the formation process of the Vietnam People's Army:
During the resistance war against the French colonialists in 1940-1944, the guerrilla teams of Bac Son, Pac Bo, Nam Ky... were born one after another and developed strongly, requiring the Vietnamese revolution to have a unified main force in terms of organization to meet the requirements and tasks of the revolution.
In December 1944, leader Ho Chi Minh issued a directive to establish the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army (the predecessor of today's Vietnam People's Army) and assigned comrade Vo Nguyen Giap to be in charge.
On December 22, 1944, in the forest between Hoang Hoa Tham and Tran Hung Dao communes in Nguyen Binh district - Cao Bang province, the team was officially established with only 34 soldiers, organized into 3 squads led by comrade Hoang Sam as team leader, comrade Xich Thang as political commissar, with a Party cell as leader; this was the first main force army. Under the talented leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh, our army has continuously grown, contributing to the great victories of the Vietnamese people.
