The US Geological Survey (USGS) website showed the quake as having a magnitude of 7.7. The German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ) said the quake had a magnitude of 6.9 in Myanmar and 7.3 in the Thai capital Bangkok.

After knowing the effects of the earthquake, many people in Ho Chi Minh City calmed down and continued working, however, many people still felt scared when feeling the shaking of high-rise buildings.
