Submit to the Government the Project to protect and promote the value of intangible cultural heritage of Vi and Giam folk songs

This is a project chaired by the People's Committee of Nghe An province, in coordination with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province, to preserve the typical cultural heritage, bearing the unique identity of the Nghe community - Vi and Giam folk songs of Nghe Tinh. This heritage was recognized by UNESCO as a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity in 2014. The development of the project also aims to solve urgent problems, risks and challenges in the current practice of preserving and promoting the value of the heritage, while at the same time fulfilling the commitment to preserve and promote the value of the heritage recognized by UNESCO.

The project to protect and promote the value of the representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity, Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam folk songs, Nghe An province, period 2026 - 2030, sets the goal that by 2030, 90% of the plain areas and 30% of the mountainous areas will strive to establish clubs for Vi and Giam folk songs in the delta areas; establish 2 - 3 more Vi and Giam folk songs clubs in other provinces and establish 1 - 2 Vi and Giam folk songs clubs abroad.

Nghe An province also focuses on reviewing, adjusting and supplementing mechanisms and policies on protecting and promoting the value of cultural heritage in general, and Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam folk songs in particular, to ensure that they are suitable for practical requirements in the new period. Localities build mechanisms and policies to support and encourage artists and artisans who are holding and organizing the practice of passing on Vi and Giam; support operating costs and invest in facilities for Vi and Giam folk art clubs/teams in the community...

According to the Project, Nghe An province continues to exploit and promote the form of staged Vi and Giam folk songs; build and organize Vi and Giam folk song performances at the Center for Conservation and Promotion of Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam Folk Song Heritage (Vinh City) in the form of daily shows (at least once a week and gradually becoming daily) to serve tourists and sell tickets, generating revenue; invest in new forms of expression for performing arts stages associated with Vi and Giam folk songs; build heritage connection itineraries associated with tourism development...
